In a fit of ineptness, the Norwegian government tried to charge my girlfriend 83689 norwegian kroners in tax (about £8,000 - say about 15 000 dollars or something. I'm shit with the foreign exchange rates - it's dull), payable in two installments. Sometimes I think government peons actually smoke crack whilst working. I had to ring and yell at ( Read more... )

What? Bats fly through the windows in England? (I'd be more worried about the bugs, actually.)

And 25 boxes is quite a collection. I am jealous!

well, it's not so much that there are bats flying through windows in England, but irrational fears are irrational fears. Bugs there are a LOT of. I have this huge garden right outside my bedroom window, with rose vines growing up around the frames, so we have a plethora of wildlife entering in search of food.

25 boxes of books on programming. Still jealous? :P

I have a completely rational fear of bugs. Nature would be perfect without them. I've gotten so many bites here I look like I have a rash. I'm not best pleased by it.

25 boxes of books on programming = unnecessary and unimaginably dull. D: who needs that many reference books for ANY subject?

I'm not particularly fond of bugs either. They all seem to love getting stuck in my hair (it gets curly in the summer). Especially one certain cretinous fucker that hangs around lakes called a spot fly. They'll give bites that raise up to the size of tennis balls (slight exaggeration there) and it sodding canes. Yet another reason why autumn = awesome, summer = horrible.

I reckon all the books he has are just porno mags in disguise. I may be wrong, seeing as the guy has a phd or something (and all social awkwardness that comes with that kind of thing), but hey, it's funnier in my mind than 140 lbs of C++ programming.
