What are your overall Deathly Hallows concerns?

Jun 07, 2010 18:59

I'm writing a blog post for an entertainment site about what HP fans' overall Deathly Hallows concerns are, and I'm wondering if you guys could quickly comment on what your biggest issues are with the upcoming movies, particularly in light of the new teaser trailer. What in the trailer made you giddy and what made you say "Whaaa?" Don't worry, I ( Read more... )

Not sure if you still need this. I liked the trailer a lot, it made me excited, which is what it was supposed to do. Basically what I want from these movies is for them to include all the important parts and not add things that aren't in the books for whatever reason that they do those things.

These are the things I hope they don't screw up:

1. Silver Doe
2. Snape's Pensieve bits
3. Snape's death
4. The Forest Again
5. The Harry, Dumbledore bit in the end...

And probably about a million things that I can't remember since it's been a while since I've read the book all the way through.

I do love the trailer, but I really promised myself to remain cautious :)
As every RHr shipper, I´d really like to see how their relationship develops in something strong, as we could see in the books.
The actors have chemistry enough for that, and I hope that in the movie the producers take good advantage of it.
I´m waiting to see lots of quotes but, honestly, I don´t trust Kloves at all!
Obviously, I´m dying to see THE kiss, but I also hope to see more tender scenes between our beloved couple. Their psychical contact increased very noticeably through DH book, and it should be that way in the movie too :)

Hi there! Thank you so much. I think canon-fans have much more adamant views, obviously, than movie-only fans who don't have the same expectations.

As you know, I'm a canon freak. Here are some alterations that would absolutely break my little fangirl heart:

If Harry is not present for the big kiss. I've heard rumors of this and pray it isn't true. Harry's exasperation is key to the scene.

Any kind of downplaying the intensity of the locket or Malfoy Manor scenes. I want raw, gritty, exposed-nerves emotions, dammit!

If they refrain from using much of the dialog from the book. It was perfect as-written, and there is simply no need to alter some of the most important scenes.

I'm also afraid that Ron will be portrayed as a complete a-hole idiot, without a sufficient explanation of the locket's effects. He's been consistently dumbed-down for the movies, and that bothers me.

Too much prettying up of Hermione. They have been constant offenders of this, since the second film. If she has makeup on after Malfoy Manor, so help me gawd...

That's all I can think of for now, if you want more you know where to find me!

Oh- also, Ron's return scene in the tent. They made Hermione a little weak and weepy with the canary scene last film, and I'm worried that she won't be sufficiently enraged/ass-kicking when he comes back in looking for a hug.

Agreed totally with Malfoy Manor. That needs to be INTENSE. Hermione needs to be SCREAMING and Ron too :)

And yeah, good point about Ron getting portrayed as an a-hole. It's hard to know what he's thinking without enough background info. WE know that's he's not stupid or pathetic... what he is going through makes a lot of sense... but they do need to be sure they are giving the movie audience the same feeling about him.

I saw a pic of him with his dad so I think maybe that is indicative of some family stuff that would help the movie viewer to understand his reasoning? I really want Ron to say "I wanted to come back the minute I’d Disapparated" because that shows that he did something impulsive out of extreme emotion and was immediately sorry for it. I think that's a really important thing for them to address.

:)

Hello *waves*
I am really giddy about the two part movie offering more screen time to get the big moments right. I also love the idea that part one is like a gritty road movie and part two is more an epic battle movie. The most recent teaser was more intense and more Operfect than I ever expected, and it restored my confidence Silver Doe will be done well and that Ron is going to have some incredible screen time.

Things I really, really need to see:
1) the perfect RHr kiss
2) Neville standing up to Voldie
3) Molly smacking down Bellatrix
4) Ron screaming "Hermione" from the Malfoy Manor dungeon.
5) Silver Doe being perfect.

Mostly I just need to see Ron having his chance to be heroic and wonderful :)
