dude! I've been having the same problem in my left ear!!! It's been happening with more frequency lately. All of a sudden virtually 100% of my hearing just goes away and there's sort of a loud buzzing noise and then it slowly goes away over the next minute or so. It's happened to me like 3 times this month.

I've been started to wear ear plugs at parties over the last like 6 months or so because of it. I'm waaaay too young to be losing my hearing.

I hope you will go to the doctor as soon as you possibly can. There's tinnitus in my family too, and it's not the same as being deaf. If you noticed the effect so dramatically and suddenly you could be having congestion in your ear from a virus or something that can be treated if you get to it before it causes permanent damage. I'm sorry if I sound like your mother, which I know I'm not, but please please please go get a check up NOW! You don't want to find out after it's too late that you passed up the chance to help yourself.
