with help from on high...
For the past four hundred years the governments of the world - the parliaments, the senates, the kings, queen, emperors, the fascists and the communists, the proletariats and the bourgeosie - have never really been the ones in control of their countries. Orders - clandestine society of superpowered operatives - have worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of hundreds of governments throughout the world. Selecting their operatives according to their own agendas the Orders continue to regulate themselves independently of any governmental involvement whilst maximising their involvement in national affairs at the very topmost political levels.

Each Order assigns its operatives codenames according to various cities within its country and in the UK it's no different: each seat in the Order of Great Britain comes with its own city-related codename and a particular power. The operative assigned the codename St. David's has the role of gifting each new city their superpower and removing it when their time comes to leave. As befits their city, the operative codenamed London is the presiding leader of the Order. With St. David's as their right-hand advisor and the precog Westminster as their left, London has the last word in any decision that the Order makes.

Things have not always run smoothly for the Order. In times past events have escaped their control and come to light to the British public - from the English civil war to Jack the Ripper, there have been times when disagreements within the Order have threatened to destroy them. Orders members have always been political creatures - not only at large and on a national scale but within their own ranks. None of them are strangers to drama - but when you gift some of the brightest men and women of the country inconceivable powers, who could blame them for meddling with each other as much as they meddle with their government?

LONDON the telekinetic
first name ❝LONDON❞ second name taken - info coming

played by Maria

WESTMINSTER the precog
eva ❝WESTMINSTER❞ olufemi
Gifted two years ago with the power of precognition, Eva Olufemi initially struggled with the weight of the task that was assigned to her. Humane and empathetic, she was initially slow to inform London of her nightly dreams - especially when they concerned other operatives within the society. To be informing on her friends and colleagues about things they hadn't even done yet felt just as ridiculous and false as it did helpless - but Westminster quickly learned that it was not part of her powers to be able to change what she Dreamed about. Whatever the fate she dreamed of, it was almost as if fate had factored in her own meddling - things would always come to pass, no matter what she did to try and stop it. She distances herself from the majority of the society except for London - her closest friend, her confidante and her boss.

power: Westminster receives nightly visions of the future instead of dreaming. She can interact with these visions to gain important clues as to when, why and where they will happen but each vision is a concrete depiction of what will definitely come to pass: no matter how hard she tries, Eva will never be able to prevent them from happening. Her power has lead her to take up a position in the British Disaster Relief Committee where she assists in directing aid to international and domestic natural disaster funds.
played by Shaz

BATH the immortal
sally ❝BATH❞ mills
Unlike any of her colleagues Bath was there when the Order was originally founded. Born in Gloucestershire in 1559, Sally Mills was married off to a surprisingly successful shipping merchant at a young age. She earned the attention of the first St. David’s through her charity work in founding local reading and writing classes for the young girls of Gloucester city. On the eve of the invasion of the Spanish Armada, Sally was approached to join the Order and take on the role of the immortal Bath to ensure the future success of the Society hundreds of years in to the future long after all the other current members had passed on - something that she immediately agreed to without fully realising the consequences. St David’s had warned her that hers was the only power that he would never be able to remove once given but his warnings fell on deaf ears. Drunk on the idea that she would live forever as a glorious paragon of female education and aspiration, Bath threw herself in to her new role.

At first it was everything she dreamed of - when not working with the Order she travelled the country setting up private schools for uneducated girls, never staying more than five years in any given city. But as the decades rolled on and the centuries loomed Bath began to crumble under the weight of her immortality. She realised that the world was not evolving the way she would like - that there were still centuries of disappointment and disillusionment ahead of her - and that perhaps the ever increasing ages of modernity were not as glorious as she had dreamed they would be.

As successive society members came and went Bath began to resent the fact that she would never progress to take charge of the Order and that there would always be operatives that would outrank her despite her considerable knowledge and age. The resentment grew and grew, sometimes turning in to a bitter and spiteful hatred. Occasionally, when she felt that the Council wasn't made up to her liking, she would absent herself from the meetings for years on end. But even someone as imposing a figure as the proud Bath can be brought round with a little charm and a few well-placed compliments. As vain as she is highly-strung, one need only flatter her on her antique grandeur to win her over.

power: completely ageless and immortal, Bath will never be able to die. She has assumed a variety of roles in various governments over the years but has turned something of a recluse in the past few decades.
played by Shaz

OXFORD the telepath
john ❝OXFORD❞ buchanan
He was always a strangely easy-going young man, if not a little full of himself and far too aware of his own intellect. Possessed with charm and an infectious sort of personality, he was never lacking in friends, despite his precocious habits, and built something of a reputation as a modern day rake. The eldest of three siblings, John was the coolest big brother - much to the chagrin of his younger brother, whose friends seemed to consistently wind up waking up with John at odd intervals. Despite his smarmy attitude and hedonistic tendencies, John attended and graduated the University of Oxford with a 1-1 in English, which, while an achievement, left much to be desired on the job-front. Although clever, John was also easily bored, not the sort of man who could put himself in an office. He needed purpose and drive, something to strongly motivate him. He was only approached by the ORDER at the age of 36, after mindless years of traipsing around between random jobs, once the previous "Oxford" had given up his post.

power:
played by Maria

CAMBRIDGE the technopath
isaac ❝CAMBRIDGE❞ moore
The middle child of a lower-middle class family from Sheffield, Isaac Moore always believed he would have to prove himself to get anywhere in life. He dedicated his naturally gifted mind to getting himself to Cambridge University where he went on to get a Bachelors and later a Masters in natural sciences. Although Cambridge shed his accent during these formative years he never lost the sense of pride at having come from such lowly beginnings and achieving so much. Having been recruited in to the Order and taking on the codename of his alma mater only served to inflate this pride even more so than before. It's this intense self-satisfaction that gives him a chronic sense of entitlement to judge others - as far as Cambridge is concerned, he's got a hell of a lot to be proud about. He's undoubtedly a highly-strung individual - as fussy and finicky as he is cultured and urbane - but beneath his disagreeable exterior Cambridge is a forthright pragmatist (if a little too forthright at times) capable of great loyalty. For the past four years Cambridge has been working as the Order's mole inside the armaments branches of the Ministry of Defence with a fixed position as a permanent advisor to the UK Defence Council.

power: Having been recruited in to the Order at a much younger point than many operatives his age, Cambridge has had nearly seven years to hone his powers of technopathy. Capable of interacting with all kinds of technology using just his mental abilities, Cambridge has been using his powers to tap and trace all kinds of communications between Ministers in the British government (and not just in his own department in Whitehall).
played by Shaz

CANTERBURY the shield
jemima ❝CANTERBURY❞ dunstan
info coming when bella is unlazy

power: Advanced defense through the creation of energy-based forcefields. These are used to protect from physical attacks, but as her mastery of the art has become more refined, Canterbury is able to create “filters” with her forcefields to lock individuals in or out, use it for limited offensive purposes and figure other odd little quirks.

played by Bella

ABRANTES the chronokinetic
joel ❝ABRANTES❞ branco
COMING SOON.

power: He can manipulate time in the present, be it for an individual, a group or even himself. He can freeze a person in time or make them move faster than the world around them, which, depending on how it is used, can cause permanent brain damage to the subject. He can also simply freeze time around him in order to move around completely undetected.

played by Noodles

BORDEAUX the super soldier
maximilien ❝BORDEAUX❞ godard
When he returned home from the second Gulf War with more injuries than any mere civilian could ever fathom, Maximilien Godard didn't quite know what to do with himself. Faced with a wife that he didn't trust and children that didn't look anything like him he continued to rely on his soldier's instincts; paranoid and unable to intergrate himself in civilian society, he clung to the only thing he really knew: how to be a good soldier.

The French Order, having lost their previous Bordeaux in an embarrassing fuck up of what should have been a simple POW extraction mission in central Mogadishu called on Maximilien to join their fraternité.

Already gifted with eighteen years of experience as a special forces operative, Maximilien was the perfect recruit. Serious-minded, reserved and utterly ruthless, Maximilien has been serving as the Order's current Bordeaux for the past three years. Unfortunately for him, his personal life was never as simple as his military life: he continues to struggle with personal relationships - both in his working and personal lives - and struggles to fully let go of the military life he never really wanted to leave in the first place. His colleagues refer to him as Jacques Bond - the James Bond of the Order - despite the fact that he definitely lacks his namesakes' wit and charm.

power: Even before he was bestowed with the powers that came with his title Bordeaux was already a very gifted soldier. As a keen disciple of all forms of armed (and unarmed) combat he had already been given ample opportunities to practice and hone his skills as a member of France's elite commandos. Thanks to the Order he has found himself further blessed with heightened reflexes, strength and agility.
played by Shaz

MELBOURNE the super soldier
megan ❝MELBOURNE❞ fletcher
Megan was a bit of a brat, growing up; she could afford to be, self assurance coming from the luxuries of being able to make friends easily, athletic and intelligent. Really, she was set up for success - and sometimes she could be a bit obnoxious about it. Megan trained in gymnastics from an early age, and going on to compete through highschool. She didn't want to continue this course of action as her career, though, abandoning her leotard to study Law at university. For better or worse, Megan is one of those people who loves to excel, and while she can be relaxed and friendly, she can also be extremely competitive. Maybe it was this spirit that appealed to Australia's branch of the Order when time came for them to acquire a new Melbourne, despite Megan's relatively young age and lack of experience.

power: A trained gymnast and lawyer, Melbourne had the groundwork for a great agent: discipline and intelligence. The Order granted her abilities past her natural skills, enhancing her strength, endurance, agility and reflexes to make her a formidable opponent, despite all appearance to the contrary.
played by Bella

DRESDEN the regenerator
thorsten ❝DRESDEN❞ müller
At one hundred and seventy-two years of age, Thorsten has been serving the united German Order since he was thirty-two in 1871, the son of a wealthy nobleman and former soldier.
Close to the century and a half of service half led Thorsten to witness and learn a great deal - including some things about himself he'd rather not have to admit. From the separate German kingdoms of the 1800s, through two World Wars, German division and re-unification in the 1990s, Thorsten has been the original and only Dresden, disappearing before his powers could be retracted during World War II and only returning when the Order was re-established. His presence was not initially well-received by all, but followed a different century of history for Germany, Dresden acts as a constant, vigilant reminder of past mistakes and the Order's need to atone for some of their predecessors actions - and lack thereof.

power: The power of regeneration is a strange one, prompting cells to replace themselves almost instantaneously and healing even the most horrific injuries. Dresden is not immortal and unchanging; Germany didn't want the potential difficulty of an operative like Bath, and so Dresden is simply incapable of dying as long as he's useful. He can be stripped of his powers, but in the meantime, the odds of him dying are slim to none.

LINCOLN the divided mind
❝LINCOLN❞ Jack Gibson & Cerbos
Cerbos is the very first (and so far, the only) sentient super power to have been generated for an operative of the Order. Working as a separate entity, Cerbos possesses superhuman strength and mild mind control that instills fear in his targets -- a number of his victims have suffered irreversible brain damage from this ability. He is terribly useful, but developed a very troubling tendency to satisfy violent urges that the Order can only try to contain. This unique power is passed down from one operative to the next, the latest being Jack Gibson. A judgmental but intelligent man, Jack was born into a humble household and heavily encouraged to invest in a successful future. His years working for the government eventually helped him gather enough knowledge and power to be invited into the Order. He volunteered to be the new host out of a desire to shed any responsibility from missions. He spends as much time making sure his secrets aren't uncovered by Cerbos as he does trying to figure out better ways to control him, only to lessen his inconvenient tendencies. The entity is constantly present in his mind, which has been a proving challenge...

power: Cerbos himself, who possesses super strength and mild mind control that instills fear in his targets using his voice. Cerbos can exist without a host but requires one to manifest. Jack himself cannot access these abilities, however; Cerbos must take control of the body and do so himself. During this time, the host will have no control of conscience of his actions.

GLASGOW the manipulator
Alistair ❝GLASGOW❞ Munro
An aggressive, impatient pragmatist. He's realistic to the point of bluntness, and absolutely willing to be rude about it. Some would say he's fatalistic, but he just sees it as being prepared -- exploring all the options. He's obsessive about things, organised and hard working -- extremely critical of others and unforgiving with it. Working his way up from a poor family, he does his best to dissociate with them -- and any mention of his family (especially his drunkard father) earns people a flat unimpressed look and stony silence. He was approached by the Order while working as a teacher at GCU after publishing a paper on Political Psychology.

power: Empathic manipulation. Able to sway people to agree with him or others, to start fights, induce hatred or affection or sympathy when need be.

WINSTON-SALEM the shifter
lewis ❝WINSTON-SALEM❞ puckett
One of the Puckett twins, Lewis was given every opportunity to have a brilliant future, son of a wealthy and very successful couple with all the right connections. A cheerful and daring extrovert, he often relied on his brother to contrast his personality with a little more caution. Both were approached to join the U.S. Order almost thanks to Giles, seen as great potential to host a power required to manifest on two separate, highly compatible parties. They began their work at a substantially young age, immediately considered one of the most powerful Winston-Salem(s) so far, but the nature of their power affected their minds in the long run. While Giles began to have sporadic cases of amnesia, Lewis struggled with his sense of identity, believing that Giles was some kind of doppelganger trying to rob him of his mind and life. A violent attack between the brothers discharged them from the Order, which erased their memories and introduced them into proper treatment to make up for the damage the powers had caused. Years later and without any new adequate candidates, the brothers were recruited once more to serve their country with no memory of their previous employment.

power: One might claim that it is impossible to be in two places at once, but the Puckett twins' powers allow them to do just that. Telepathically connected to one another, this power allows Lewis to teleport objects between himself and his brother, and/or for them to teleport to each other. Finally, they can merge into one person to amplify their powers. The last aspect of this power is responsible for the psychological damage the two brothers suffered previously.

TORONTO the new generation
maude ❝TORONTO❞ dante
An orphan since an early age, Maude ended up hopping from foster home to foster home until one day she simply left Canada by herself and travelled all the way to London to chase a dream: become a musician. Of course, it never really kicked off although she was part of a garage band until she had to go back to Canada when she found one of her siblings.
The high-school dropout began working as a barmaid in a bar in Toronto and for a couple of years, she was living her life without any concerns - the typical sex, drugs and rock 'n roll style. Everything was as it should be until she got involved in a brawl with one of the Order's agent and apparently managed to beat him up. After this rather violent encounter, she was approached by the Canadian Order and was offered a position as Toronto.
While a talented musician and a very street-smart, it's still unsure why she got the job but the fact is that she gets the job done. In a very unorthodox way, but she does it.

power: Like Bordeaux and Melbourne, Toronto has the capacity of a super soldier: the reflexes, the endurance and the agility. However, something happened when the Order bestowed those gifts upon the newest recruit and in the middle of getting all of these, the ex-barmaid also got heightened senses and an amazing regenerative capacity, which makes it nearly impossible for her to be killed.

EDINBURGH the shapeshifter
kyle ❝EDINBURGH❞ kinnaird
Kyle Kinnaird was an aspiring actor, happily married to a creative and enthusiastic wife. He was recruited by the Order to infiltrate and go undercover as a shapeshifter, using his talent and methods in theater to accomplish his tasks. It was a secret well kept from his wife until his missions started to take a toll on his social and love live and finally on his psyche. Kyle would spend months before a mission working closely with the person he was supposed to impersonate -- he was even appointed to a mission that lasted little over eight months. His hold on his identity and responsibilities outside the Order began to dwindle until the relation with his wife and young child finally ruptured. He is a man at odds with himself, lonely, depressed in denial about it, relying on the entertainment and fulfillment that creating, impersonating and switching between different personas provides him in order to forget all the disorder awaiting his original, real self.

power: The ability to assume the body shape of any person imaginable. The assumed shape doesn't have to be someone that he has met for him to be able to take their form but the ability to hold it is reliant on his mental state.

REGINA the omniscient
jerry ❝REGINA❞ redmond
tba

power: Mainly used for precognition, Jerry can pick up bits of information -- often in the form of visions -- about the past, present and future of any person he has met. It's a random and intermittent power, one he can only control by isolating himself to avoid more occurrences.
