Nostalgia

Brought back memories to see this yesterday.   I remember going to see this movie combo as a kid with a big school group.  I guess it’s all about Harry Potter now.

Long time friends are the best. My two best friends, Jason and Mike I have known since I was in preschool. We met on the playground the first day of preschool and we all lived on the same street and we couldn't be separated since ( ... )

I have some even older friends, like my best friend Steve through Jr. High and high school, then on to UCLA together and finally different law schools in the Bay Area where we'd complain about how much we hated it. He's the (now) judge I mentioned recently, and there's a few others like that. But college is where I met the majority that are still in my life on a pretty regular basis. We may not see each other much, but when you all go off and live together (in dorms and apartments) starting in your teens and those are your first years of independence, you sorta grow up together and those are bonds that really still tie us together. I know that no matter what, when the chips are down, they are friends who will be there, and they know me better than most people ever will because of those living and growing up experiences that developed us into who we are today. So yeah, it's pretty cool, but something you don't really appreciate as much until you get older and see all these other people pass in and out of your life that you never ( ... )

...awwww, an image came to mind of Young Russ, ticket in hand, popcorn in the other hand, in line to be seated for these films.

I recall these films, and I think I've seen at least Jason, it was a summer series in Pomona. The Fox Theatre (owned at that time BY 20th-century Fox) had a summer series for kids, you could buy the series at the start of summer.

I'm glad you connected with your friend and discovered Burlingame, so that you have a better sense of the region. And I'm glad she can offer some thoughts and ideas about the City.

Among those who have been the most important resources during this episode in my life, there are 3 individuals--J, J, and R. One of the Js is someone I've known for most of my Long, Long Life...and he's been kind and sensitive during these days when we talk on the phone and in person. It's been a deep grace note, and it sounds like your Burlingame connection is of a similar character.

Bless you.

Yes, my Burlingame connection is really just another amazing person I'm fortunate enough to have crossed paths with many many moons ago in my youth. ;-) So funny how we never really knew the kind of solid bonds we were building back then, nor am I sure I fully appreciated them even a few years ago as much as I do now, and what solid bonds they've become. We don't see each other much, or talk to each other often, but we always know we're a phone call away, and on our way if needed. One of this college group brought her son with her to visit overnight in WeHo for his 13th birthday where we took him to a Beatles rendition at the Hollywood Bowl, and it's so cool that I'm really like an uncle to their kids. He was sooo much fun. I made a huge deal out of his birthday and I think I had more fun than he did! LOL. I was buying him all sorts of stuff at the gift shop at the Bowl, and then took him out for ice cream after and made them sing happy birthday, but you only become a teen once and I wanted him to remember it forever.
