Just realized how long it's been since I posted.  I check in here to see who is around, but just never  feel like I have time to post.

Not much has changed.  Still in the Bay Area.  Had another 911 emergency with my mom who had an allergic reaction to an new antibiotic.  Within 15 minutes,  her throat was closing off, tongue huge, she couldn't ( Read more... )

Thanks for checking in.

Always great to hear from you, but sorry that you had to spend holidays alone- that does sucks and had to happen last minute.

Sending along good thoughts for your Mother

Great news about that hotel. One of the things I like so much about the Inn on Castro and the apartment is how spoiled I feel when there. I think though it could be a reflection on you as to how you're treated there.

Finally, when I upgraded to the Iphone 5, I sent my 4 to Gazelle. I got a good price and the transaction was no muss, no fuss.

Hey there! Thanks for the good thoughts. And yes, I'm sure part if not most of my good feelings about the hotel are related to how I'm treated, and when they go out of their way for me, I go buy them thank you cards and leave them for them so that they get them the next time they come into work. I'm not sure how often they have customers do that, but you know my motto . . . . you get back what you put out there. That's really the case here. I think it's important to do little things to let people know they are appreciated when you can ( ... )

Love the photo.

Bummer about the holidays but sounds like you still entertained and enjoyed yourself.

Agreed on iPad. Got mine for my birthday a few years ago and i find that I only use it for games and reading articles or shopping. No work stuff ... Too much of a pain and the video deal... Argh!

Glad to hear from you.

*hugs*

Hi! Yes, the holidays could have been better, but not really a huge deal. Just wish I'd have known.

And yup, I use the iPad mostly for reading news, a quick look-up of something, but I don't really find it useful. I just think it's an expensive toy. I even bought a keyboard for it to see if that would help and think I wasted my money there too. Oh well. It's OK if you just accept it for what it can do and ignore what it can't or what's more inconvenient. I just don't get what the hoopla is about.

I'm glad they're taking care of you at the hotel. It's nice to have people looking out for you.

Thank you, my friend. So good to see you back, and you motivated me to update! Didn't realize it had been that long either until I looked. Yikes. They say time flies when you are having fun, but that's not exactly the case here so we have to come up with another excuse. ha! ;-)

Well aren't you sweet. Thank you! :-)

Not sure about the iWatch. I don't wear watches or rings or anything. I have a couple of watches, but with clocks on everything from the car dash to buildings, coffee makers, TVs, computers, cell phones, etc., it's hard to look in any direction and not see the time somewhere. I just see no need for watches anymore. Not something I'd be drawn to, but that's just me.

I agree with you on the iPad; I've tried friends' iPads plenty of times expecting I'd want one too, but don't think they're all that special.

Hope your mom doesn't have any more reactions. How scary.

I know right? Maybe I should have tried one first, but I didn't. I just ordered it thinking once I got one, I'd understand and wonder what I'd waited so long for. Then I almost returned it during the 14 day return period when I was feeling disillusioned, but figured it would grow on me if I just gave it time. It has . . . a bit, but over 2 months later, I'm wondering why people are so excited to pay $500+ for something that really doesn't do all that much.

I like my iPhone, but I like it because I don't have to learn anything new like I used to every time I got a new phone. I don't want to learn a new phone operating system every time I get a new phone and set everything up all over again. I want simple, and that's the beauty of Apple products for a lot of people, I think.
