30 days to freedom

My last day at work is Feb. 15th. I just couldn't do it anymore. Someone else resigned last week, another person the week before - which just increased the workload on everyone, and from what I heard of more changes that may be announced as early as next week (that no one knows about yet but me) I think they may have several more leave soon after ( Read more... )

Good for you to be moving on under your terms before it gets any worse.

Taking care of yourself and getting fitter and some vacations sounds like a great place to start my friend!

Thanks! I think we often get stuck in ruts and hold on too long and I was definitely doing that, but I barely had time to have a life outside of work and I knew I couldn't it forever. I was prolonging the inevitable waiting for the straw that broke the camel's back. It came and I knew it was time.

I still need to work this weekend and a very busy week next week, but at least I know I don't have too many more of those to go. :-)

It sounds like they may be hoping you won't leave after all. Who is going to heft the workload if even more people leave in response to those changes in the mean time?

I don't know. Just the 3 of us who have left in the last 3 weeks is already going to make it more difficult for others who will need to pick up our workload when they're already pushed to the brink. I'd say it takes a good year to get a new hire ramped up to do the job, get all their certifications, etc. so it's not like they can just hire people to quickly pick up the slack, but I had to remind myself that it's not my problem. They'll need to figure it out.

Almost 3 months later, I finally stop in here.

I'm glad you're doing this for yourself, and will give yourself time to rest and travel.

As ever, you come to mind frequently, perhaps I'll send an email.

Bless you.
