10 weeks today, which was the time I gave myself to get back into shape.  Not exactly where I want to be, but I’m happy. I finally got on the scale at the gym and clocked in at 158.  I remember when I used to freak out if I got into the upper 140s and don’t think I ever crossed over 150 before this weight gain. Who knows how much I weighed 10 weeks ( Read more... )

Great job feeling to a good place physically in 10 weeks. I am still having lingering sciatic pain and am feeling chubby and frustrated. Need to get better to get back on track with eating and exercising!

Glad your friend is ok but that's rough on you with no sleep.

Exciting racing weekend with American Pharoah winning the triple crown.

Not taking step dad's horse to Ascot after all. Trainer is concerned about his hind end stiffness and thinks over there in the soggy wet turf, he will run himself to death and be ruined. Thinks he is too nice a horse for that so bringing him home to run at Del Mar.

About my friend, it was not nearly as rough on me as it was on him. Just told myself I'd much prefer to be in my position than his. Back surgery is no picnic, and he's been there for me so I was glad to be there for him. We've been great friends for 15 years and joked that we just shared another memorable life experience together.

Sorry you're still having sciatic problems! Ugh. You were really on a roll! I've been trying to push hard but not so hard I mess up my shoulder, as I've had problems with it before when I push too hard too fast. Once you have something like that, you have to stop and let it heal. It's one reason I quit snow skiing. Too many knee injuries. I was on crutches for 6 weeks once from skiing, and that's how my friend screwed up his back. Decided as much fun as skiing is, it's not worth it to me to end up completely out of commission for an extended period for a day on the snow.

Too bad about Ascot, but better to be safe. And yes, I was excited about American Pharaoh!

Yep I decided that about skiing when I was younger too. The two things I like best are riding horses and roller skating so if it's not one of those two I figure it's not worth the risk of put of commission.

I just missed the memo about an issue with my saddle and super aggravated it. I bought it used and had two things fixed on it before I started riding but I didn't check that the stirrup fenders were right. ..they were really off so I really irritated my sciatic for several weeks. Waiting for healing sucks lol

Nice to hear from you!

I have to say, though ... this is the sort of post that really begs for photographic accompaniment. :-p

Ha! I'm not close to camera-ready. I think I'd feel much better about myself now if I hadn't ever been in the shape I was. I look at those pics and it's hard to believe I ever had that kind of definition. I used to have a "V" shape and abs, but right I'd settle for perfecting a good, tight "T" shape. No abs (showing) either. You have to be under 10% body fat for that and honestly, I'm not sure I want to work that hard anymore. It's a lot of work! :-)
