Or maybe I was just looking lost and loony that day and ripe for the picking? LOL. I've been doing a bunch of research on it now out of curiosity, reading ex-Scientology message boards with people posting about their real experiences, followed and filmed everywhere they go (intimidation tactics), beatings, interrogated with no sleep for days, and how they literally had to escape from locked compounds/labor camps, sometimes in the middle of the night, chased down in airports, blackmailed, and much more.

You'd think they could just walk away. This is America, not North Korea, but the more I read, the more I understand how they are getting away with it right under our noses. It blows my mind.

Right? You think these people who get sucked into it must be idiots, but the people on these message boards seem bright and educated. The more I've read, the less funny it becomes and the more empathy I have.

...sounds like a greeting from another generation...

"Hey there, Sailor!..."

:-)

When I go to a Kaiser Medical Center, it's usually Sunset, and for a few departments I go in the parking structure attached to the southeast corner of Vermont and Sunset. So I see parts of the "headquarters", usually.

It _is_ stunning to realize how much property they have in that part of Los Angeles, and the stories I've read by 'former Church members' leaves me feeling that they leech like so many groups...

They do more than leech. The stories by countless ex-members are truly frightening. It's a cult in every sense of the word.

As cooler weather finally appeared, I was thinking . . . Mark must be happy about this! LOL. It was a long, hot summer.
