Ships passing in the night.

Just got back Friday from 11 days up north.  My dad called saying his license was revoked, but didn’t know why or what to do and asked me to come up right away to figure it out. When I got there I found the notice that said he had 14 days to ask for a hearing with the DMV and 14 days were up the next day, so I hired an attorney to handle it and she ( Read more... )

Sounds like a stressful trip up north. Hoe things work out for your dad. My mom prefers not to drive at night now, but she isnt a huge driver anyway so its ok.

A nice cuddle for you ;) hope he finds his way safely also.

Last day at Del Mar today here to cheer on the colt. It was split into 2 races and we drew the harder section. So we are just hoping for a good safe run and if something great happens we will be happy.

Can't believe it's the last day of Del Mar racing! Beautiful day for it though, where the surf meets the turf.

Yes, my mom doesn't really drive anymore either and probably a good thing, but there's a big different psychologically from choosing not to drive and being told you can't anymore - and never again. :-(

Wow, that's exciting! And in the more difficult of the two races! Congrats!

Thanks. I spent about $700 stocking up on everything my parents might need until I'm back up there, paid their property taxes and a bunch of annual insurance bills, went to the bank with my dad to put me on as signatory on their accounts so I could continue to handle finances for them on my own, went to various doctors with signed permission for them to talk to me if/when necessary, talked to their doctors, hired the attorney, dug up records for their CPA on a tax matter, got their health insurance set up for 2016, etc. etc. All a bit overwhelming for them now. It was exhausting going through all the unopened mail and trying to figure out what needed to be done and I found myself unable to sleep much with a long list I worked through every day, then cooked the full Thanksgiving meal for them. But I'm a tough guy - or at least I'm good at convincing myself I am so I could power through it all. Just hope I can get my dad's license back. I think he'd get depressed and go downhill if he couldn't get out and interact with people, and he' ( ... )

I sense that you _are_ a strong man, but someone who is just as sensitive, tenderhearted and open to wounds as others.

This _was_ an intense episode! Reading this comment, I could sense the relentless force of Getting Things Done. I can understand how you were exhausted, and am glad that you had a good, safe, gentle and good-hearted night with someone.

Bless you.
