This probably goes without saying (especially coming from me),
but I fucking hate how some churches have political affiliations. The Knights of Columbus (a Catholic men's group) actually sponsored Bush. Not as in most of the people in it did, I mean they actually as a group said "We support Bush."
That's not legal. You can (and should) lose your tax exemption for that.

I agree totally. But Planned Parenthood sponsored Kerry. I'm pretty sure they're tax exempt. (please correct me if im wrong.)

I don't think Planned Parenthood is religiously affiliated though.

and they are a specifically pro-choice group, it wouldn't make sense for them to support a pro-life candidate. i'm so bias and unfair and etc.

wow. i usually don't read ppl's lj's if they are very long, but i actually read this one and totally agree w/ just about everything you said. i totally think that religion vs. politics is becoming a really big issue and i'm sick of hearing about how...oh he's mormon so he has no chance of becoming a senator, etc. because ppl wouldn't allow that. i don't mean to intrude as a strong mormon, but i really wish that there was a way to cut religion out of politics because our country isn't "suppose" to be like that. i dunno. anyway, i just thought i'd comment because i really like what you said.

i also am very happy for you when it comes to haveing a new baby sister. tha't really exciting.

Thanks for askking your dad about his POA system. And tell your dad thanks from Ludarae and me 2 I guess. we should think of some cool way to thank your dad, like a special song written to him (filled with weird rapping and stuff like that).

Anyway,

Good points. I'd still call myself evangelical in tehs ense that I want to spread Christianity, but I do take Montaigne's words into heart. Did Daddow talk to you about the Iraq war in relation to the Handbook to a Christian Knight? It was all about killing for Christianity and how he couldn't find a way to reconcile what was happening in Iraq. idk, you're point about the death penalty and abortion made me think of that.

Daddow and Mooney are 2 of the most liberal christians I know glad their at AMes High. Makes me kinda wish I knew more about politics. But I'm still having a tough time forcing myself to care.

there's nothing wrong with wanting to spread religion/ Christianity, as long as it's not done through the state. going on mission trips and trying to show people the power of your faith by example is one thing, but trying to change America so that it is officially a "Christian Nation" is completely different.

I like your point on pro life but pro death penalty. "Everybody should have the right to live! Except for these people, who we're going to kill because they're evil... except for the ones who were innocent... but I guess you can't be perfect all the time... right?"
