8/27/09- Pandora Hearts episode 1-10

It's a cute series, but I really don' see what all of the hype is about. Everyone that I've heard mention it so far is talking about it like it's the greatest series ever, but I don't think it is. It reminds me a little like Rozen Maiden; cute, funny, serious at times, and good to watch, but not the most fantastic anime ever. It reminds me a little of Kuroshitsuji too, but even that was better.

Heck, I'll go as far to say that episodes 1-9 are worse than episodes 2 1/2 I've seen of Samurai Champloo.

I thought from the AMV's that I've seen I would like Break more, but that's just because he reminds me of Undertaker. If he didn't, or never watched Kuroshitsuji, I would probably like him more, because I'm comparing him to the Undertaker. I don't like him simply because he's a little higher on the asshole meter than he is.

I really like older- Gilbert though, and he's probably my favorite character so far. I like Alice more than I though that I would, even though it was impossible to read heremotions/ personality by the first 4 episodes; it was very bipolar.

Final Verdict: I'll watch the whole series because it's good enough to get through, and at least I can say that I've watched it and put another anime under my belt. Back to the Samurai Champloo drawing board after this, though.

First Opening and Ending themes are good, though.

I also saw Bleach 234 today :)

8/28/09 Episode 11-18, part of 19. I can't get through 19 and 20!

I can't take it anymore. Each episode is like having a seizure, long, painful, and with no notice of when it will end. A very rude comparision on my part, but it is very true. I have compiled a list as to why I hate the series so flippin' much:

1. The characters experience four emotion:
    a. happy
    b. angsty
    c. angry
    d. angsty
Sure, the manage to fit in personalities every once and a while, but these seem to be the only feelings really portrayed in the series. And the characters seem to go through cycles too, first happy, then angsty about being happy, then angry that they were so angtsy at being happy, and angtsy about how they can't help their friends because they're too being angry at being angtsy at being happy. Then the are happy that their friends are safe in the end and the whole shebang repeats itself.

2. Plotlines, here is how my thoughts on the plot have changed:
-Before: A kid falls into  hole and has an adventure. Okay, that's pretty cool.
Episode 3: Wait, does this even have a plot?!
Episode 4-5: Oh, okay. Find Alice's memories? Seems a little like Inuyasha, but good enough.
Later: The've only found one memory shard? Is this even a plot?
Later: Oh, okay, they've found another. Sure, it's episode 13, but good enough.
Episode 14-15: Wait, the Baskervilles need to be hunted down? What about Alice? Wait, what?
Episode 17: Still hunting those baskervilles. Alice is eating meat and caring very, very little about the her memories that I was told won't last much longer on their own. Much like the characters.
Episode 19: Now we're fighting another Chain. They make up most of the series, is fighting them and stopping the bad ones a plot too?

3. Females.
I'm not the biggest fan of female charcters, but I do have my favorites. I like all kinds of personalities, and rarely to characters make me hate them, not matter how pathetic a personality they were dumped on with. But the females in this come in two brands; angry, loud, and demanding (i.e. Alice and Lotti) or submissive and quiet (i.e. Sharon and Ada.) I want my money back! I demand more female personalities! We do not come in chocolate and vanilla, we come in strawberry, and pistachio, and lemon, and caramel, and a bajillion other flavors/ personalities with a new one being discovered/ revealed every day. And why do they always need saving my male charcters? Alice did her job in the beginning, and that's why we have a plot (or lack thereof). But it seems that the females need to be saved throughout this series, strong or not. C'mon, I got enough of that from Bleach, and I'd like something new, thank you!
*I also remember in episode 4-5 thinking to myself if Alice was bipolar because one minute she was shy and calm, and screaming and getting angry the next.

4. Unrelatedable characters.
Okay, this mostly goes for just me, but at least it's a good reason for me to not watch the series. As said above, I am not a chocolate or vanilla, I'm a whole new personality that's a mixture of the two sometimes and a mixture of other flavors on other days. There goes relating to the females. Also, I'm not an angtsy male fighter nor a suicidal blondie. There goes the male characters. I have no one, not even an OC that I want to develop further.

5. Going nowhere.
I'm on episode 19, and there are 27 or so in the series. I'm well over half way done with the series. So why do I still not understand the plot, any potential ending, or any further development on characters? No one likes to be able to tell the ending of a series from episode 2, but I still like to make guesses on it and be happy with the ending. I have absolutly no guesses because again, the creators are still guessing on a plot(s). I mean sure, I also like a little mystery behind my characters, but these take it too far. I have no clue who's a friend and who's a foe, not even a little, and because of that I feel I know nothing about the characters. In Kuroshitsuji, I knew personalities by episode 5, and in Gurren Lagann, by the end of episode 1. Now that's decent character development.

Glad to see that I have a reason(s) for disliking this series other than Break not living up to my Undertaker expectancies. Hopefully by Sunday I will have choked down the other episodes, and on September 3, 2009 I will leave this godforsaken lovechild between Rozen Maiden and Kuroshituji behind forever!!! (No, really, I don't even want to go back and try to understand it. Hopefully the manga is better...)

My favorite episode so far would have to be 17, where we see a little more Break, and he gets hit with a pillow.

Oh yeah, by Sharon. Before she collapses crying in his arms. Oh well...

EDIT: WAIT WAIT WAIT WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON I DEMAND ANSWERS NOW DAMMIT!
I just checked the Pandora Hearts episodes on Wikipedia to see if I can get some answers. I scrolled down to the bottom to check to see if 27 really is the number of episodes that I have to watch. It is't, in fact it's much, much worse.

I'ts 22. 22 episodes. Three and a half more episodes to answer/ explain/ redeem all that I listed above. Any glimmer of hope and been plucked from my body, this series will end in a pathetic rush with more angtsy-ness and mystery. And that fucking blows.

P.S. I still don't get that white Alice. Or the one who was killed. Or why I felt that Jack was the bad guy all alone.

P.P.S. What has satisfied me about the character is Emily, the doll. It's nice to hear my name pronounced in Japanese. Even though I want to drop-kick that thing, and it's owner. And it's owners owner. And the blondie who had a crush on it's owners owner. And the sea-weed head who kisses the butt of the blondie who likes it's owners owner. And every other charater with a beating heart in that hot mess of a series.

P.P.P.S. I think 55% of my break love comes from his lack of a left eye. I'm such a looser...but at least I feel I don't fail as much as this series does. Nobody on the face of the Earth is that pathetic, not even Oz himself.

P.P.P.P.S. I still want to write a GilbertxAlice fic though. They're the only pairing that I sorta kinda like. I like AlicexOz less, but I really feel that Oz is the woman in the relationship and I don't like that. Ooh, and maybe a VincentxBreak too *chuckles* The yaoi moments in this are actually fairly good, and gets a good rating from me.

P.P.P.P.P. S
YES ONLY 22 FUCKING EPISODES! I DON'T HAVE TO SIT THROUGH IT MUCH LONGER! YES YES YES!

P.P.P.P.P.P.S
It's the "s's" that need to be repeated in "P.S." isn't it? Oh well...

P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S
I will read the manga, don't worry; I hate giving up on series, and hate hating series, and I'm sure what the actual plot is is very good. It's also still continuing, so hopefully everything will even out in the manga...ahh...that's better... I'm just ranting now, and I do sorta like the series, but it has really gotten on my nerves. This is why I'm a manga fan...

P.P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S
I AMV's for this series really are amazing. They're better than the Kuroshitsuji ones I've seen. I need to watch more PH AMV's from other people, not just one person. Still, she made the series look watchable, so she obviously has teh mad skillz!

8/29/09
Episodes 19 and 20

Actually, according to Wikipedia, the series ends at episode 20, but according to Watch Anime ON, the next episode after 20 is a "special."

Part of episode 19 wasn't bad, because it goes more in depth into Jack. It made me like Oz less though. Episode 20 was very funny and probably my favorite episode, but it was a filler. Everyone gets drunk, yells at each other, and there are many sexy moments. Gil crying at the end was very adorable though, and it wrapped up very well (with Eliot on the bed crying.)

Why do only the men in this series seem to cry?

Since I'm techically done with the series, I give it a 6/10. It would easily be an 8-9/10 if the animators had enough sense to wait until the manga was further rather than make the anime right away, because there are a million loose ends to tie up, and only two "specials" to do it. I fully intend to begin reading the manga and hope that I understand it better, because this series really does have potential.

There is no excuse though. I watched both Gurren Lagann in two-three days and about 44 episode of Soul Eater in five, and I still understood those fairly well, not to mention that they both ended well considereding that Soul Eater hasn't finished as a manga.

EDIT: Aftre watcing said "special"
It's only five minutures, with Break and Gilbert in maid outfits and Emily teaching us about the wonders of diabetes. Onto episode 21!
Well, I did watch episode 21, and it gave me two questions for every one answer. I'm hoping that this series will last longer than just one more episode like Wikipedia says, and I think it will. I'm glad to at least be getting some answers, and Rufus is very handsome for a naked-mole-rat :D
