But apart from that, Mrs. Lincoln, did you enjoy the play?

So, a quick recap of everything else we did in North Carolina with cavedwellers's family:

The flight down was fine, altough there was a 50 minute wait between when we landed in Jacksonville and when people got their luggage -- because, a put-upon employee announced from the baggage belt, "There were two planes on the ground at the same time."

The place we were staying was wonderful. It was a house on the beach, not far from downtown (downtown on Topsail Island, that is, a place where the traffic light appears on the map.) It had a turret, A/C, two decks, even a dumb waiter. Mr. C and I tried to get the dumb waiter to work while everyone else brought the luggage upstairs. Never did get it going.

Every day: swimming in the ocean. They told me it would be warm, but I didn't think the ocean actually could be warm. Now I know better. Thank you, gulf stream!

Every day: long walks on the beach. I guess that's romantic, but we spent most of the time studying the little crustations, so YMMV.

Went to a Japanese "Teppanyaki" restaurant, at which the meal is prepared at your table as one part of a one-man cooking juggling joking show. And they threw shrimp tails at each other and there was a flaming onion volcano.

Good cajun seafood in a restaraunt called the "Naked King Fish" (honestly, someone bought out a Naked Fish location and wanted to do as little redecorating as possible).

Good seafood from a local crab shack (including fried green tomatoes).

Watched big fireworks on July 3rd and lots of community (and indie) fireworks from the turret on July 4th.

Got sunburned, but not badly.

Played a couple games of Scrabble. Watched the best Scrabble player ever let someone else win.

Played two rounds of minigolf for the price of one. (Shhh.)

Shopped at huge tacky sundry shops.

Read a lot, for work and not for work.

Ate lots of oriental party mix.

Played one game of Q*Bert.

Napped.
