I might check it out once the gaming computer is back up and running. Most of the "free" MMO's wind up relying on microtransactions after a certain point.

Yeah, there are a lot of things you can purchase, but really don't seem necessary. I may end up upgrading to the Bronze account (which is like $5 a month) for the added exp and stuff if I like the game enough.
