Powers(if any): Yuffie does view herself as a ninja as sorts and her weapons reflect that. She's able to throw ninja stars at her opponents/enemies and of course her iconic item, a very big shurikan. In addition to that she can teleport...sort of. She can throw a smoke bomb down as a distraction then sneak up on her enemy from another direction. The last ninja like ability she has is..able to run up the side of a wall or a small building, but only after she has a running start.
Other abilities include very minor healing and limited computer hacking skills.

AU history: Yuffie was born in a lovely place called Radiant Garden to Kasumi and Godo Kisaragi. Her family was a loving one, though Godo was busy working within King Ansem's castle. His job was in the treasury department and with him away it was up to Kasumi to raise their daughter. Then when Yuffie was five her life changed.
Godo was accused of stealing money from the King's treasury and while he denied the accusations it didn't stop the rumors from spreading. Yuffie got the brunt of it from kids though. Some of them began to tease for it and when something went missing from the classroom all eyes were on her. She finally had enough when one kid called her a 'Little Thief' and the whole class began to chant it...well, she got into her first fight with him and had to be taken out of school.
The nicknamed stuck with her and instead of waiting around to prove his innocence, Godo moved the family to Traverse Town. The accusations still followed Yuffie's family to Traverse Town and like in Radiant Garden her nickname followed her too. Though people began to keep their mouth shut when Yuffie's mother, Kasumi, died of pneumonia. In losing his wife, Godo became distant from Yuffie. He was a parent in title and only when he had to discipline his energetic daughter. She usually got grounded and in effort to curb her hyperness, he taught her some basic martial arts skills. The techniques did teach her to calm her mind and focus, but that's all Godo taught her. They grew apart from one another until one day when Yuffie was 14, she came home and he wasn't there...
The damn man had left her! Hurt and upset, Yuffie packed up a small bag and left Traverse Town as well. When she was packing she found a small sack of money her father left behind, sort of a farewell present to her. Instead of buying things like food and clothing...she bought herself some weapons and trained herself in using them. Her travels didn't last that long though. She wandered back to her old hometown of Radiant Garden.
In returning there her old nickname and family history were brought up, but she ignored it for the most part. She was different from her dad and instead of getting upset over the nickname she...embraced it. She made jokes about her old nickname and spin tales of her robbing from evil kings and giving to the poor. It's all in good fun in her eyes.
Sadly, having fun doesn't pay the bills nor did it give her a roof over her head. After staying in Radiant Garden for a few days she met an old man named Cid. He was a little rough around the edges and in need of a worker. Yuffie struck a deal with him: she'd work if she got free room and food. After two days of annoying/bothering/ minor, very minor pleading with him...Cid agreed to it.
Cid became an important figure in her life, sort of like the dad she never had. He taught her how to work with her hands and how to hack computers, though she didn't have enough patience for that and thus her skills in hacking are limited. In Radiant Garden she made new friends like Tifa, Aerith, Leon (though she calls him Squall) and Cloud. Each of them are special to her. Sometimes when she's bored she'll play a prank or two, such as hiding their things or throwing water balloons at them to get them to lighten up. After all, all work and no play makes Yuffie very very bored.
In addition to being close with Cid, she is sort of close with Squall. If only because he was the first person she befriended when she got back in in Radiant Garden. Their friendship took sometime, but she was persistent in it. One thing that helped them become friends was...fighting. She needed to keep her skills sharp and he needed a sparring partner. Not only did fighting wear Yuffie out (something Cid was thankful for) but through through sessions their friendship grew little by little.
For two years nothing really happened in Radiant Garden, until the Mist came.
It was worrying, to say the least. Yuffie wanted to go out and find a weakness to the Mist and stop it, but Cid and Squall kept her in line about it. She wasn't going to fight some inky blackness by herself, but she felt helpless. She wanted to do something! That's when she received a letter to the Academy. At first she didn't want to, being stubborn about staying in Radiant Garden to help out...but she reluctantly decided to go. The sooner she went, the sooner she could come back and help out.
Personality: Yuffie is a whole bunch of things. For one, she loves...loves to have fun! Which is why she likes to play little pranks one friends from running off with their stuffs saying something along the lines of 'Ineedthisplzkthx!' to rigging a bucket of water over a door. In this sense you could say she is a bit mischievous. Her pranks usually work, though sometimes she does get caught in the middle of a prank. She tries to find a balance between fun and work, though sometimes the scale tips in favor of one thing or another.
In terms of work, she is a hard worker. Once she has her mind set on something then she'll push herself to get there. Nothing will distract her from her goal. She can be stubborn in this sense. She'll keep working until she tires out from trying. She'll never stop trying, she'll take a break but then get right back to work.
She is also cheerful and kind. She prefers to make friends rather than fight. Though she does like to do a spar session or two if only to keep her ninja skills sharp. It's with these skills that she uses to protect her friends. No one messes with them, well...except her. But when she messes with her friends it's in the name of good fun.
Finally she has an affinity for two things: ice cream and treasure. What can she say? Treasure means having an adventure, doing good and fighting evil and of course getting something shiny at the end. Ice cream...cools you down and is a wonderful treat!
Greatest Fear: Being unable to help those she cares about or having them suddenly leave. Her mom already passed away and so did her dad, so she's afraid the same thing might happen while she's in the Academy. She's hoping when she goes back to Radiant Garden her little family will still be there.
What are your plans with this character?: For her to meet new people and make new friends. Who doesn't want to be friends with a ninja? Besides that, I think she'll fit right in! And she wouldn't shut up about coming here.

Yuffie looked at the huge building that held her living quarters. It had to be ten stories high tops. Whoa... She was going to be living in that space for a while, at least until she finished her 'schooling' or until the Mist was defeated. Or maybe it would be both at the same time. Who knew! But while she was here..maybe she could have an adventure or two.
The thought made her grin and she raced up the building. Her first adventure could be finding her dorm room! She had written the number on a piece of paper that was probably crumpled in her shorts. In her excitement of finding her room she had forgotten about it. She could remember something as simple as her room number, right? Wrong. Nine flights of stairs later she dropped her bags on the floor of the hallway.
"...C-come on....I know I have a room somewhere....h-here..ttthiinnkk...." she murmured to herself, leaning against the wall only to slide down to the floor. She placed her hand on her hip and then remembered the note she had written herself. Eagerly she fished it out of her pocket, rolled it out and read it.
"..Joe West...floor 5..." she muttered then pouted, feeling annoyed and frustrated with herself. A muffled groan escaped her.
She had been wandering around in the wrong building for the past hour!
Letting out a huff she grabbed her bags and went down the stairs. At least I'm getting a workout out of this... She kept repeating the mantra over and over again. By the time she got to her actual room she threw open the door, tossed her bags to the side and leaped into her bed. Her sweet, comfortable bed! Snuggling her pillow Yuffie decided a small nap was in order.
