A GRANDE MOMENT, PLEASE.

even though mark had a few more things to do, i didn't even have to pull him away from the computer to come down for dinner (not that it's usually hard, but i usually have to call him down). right when he heard the plates hit the table, he was headed downstairs. (maybe he was just starving.) after dinner, he even took me to get coffee and browse ( Read more... )

Being a grown up has it's good points and being able to do your own christmas decorating is DEFINITELY one of them :)

I love those dark purple/pink/green etc decorations! IF we had an elegant tree, then I would absolutely go for that - unfortunately, our tree designer (ashlyn) calls for everything glittery. And lots of snowmen. I was able to incorporate my love of heart shaped things and I have a few different heart ornaments but mostly, it's all stuff that Ash picked. Ahd - gulp - multi coloured lights :)

BUT NO TINSEL!

your tree sounds fun! glitter and hearts. i love it. :) before we got married, in casual conversation, mark mentioned that he was never about the trees that didn't have themes and were chock full o' kid made ornaments. and i thought i could definitely relate ('cause we both can be so anal about such things), however, i really think that would change once we'd have kids and they started bringing home glitterey popsicle stick reindeer type ornaments with their pictures for the faces. definitely.

Oh, it will! Last year I ordered these sun catcher ornaments from an arts and craft catalog for Ashlyn to do. (They messed up and sent us two packs but only charged us for one - ha! IN the spirit of the season, I told Ash that since one package was not rightfully ours, we should decorate those and give them to our neighbours)

Anyway, they turned out so nicely that I was very happy to stick them on our tree. And, as Paris said, "Spending $500 on ornaments just wouldn't seem right when we have our very own ornament designer right here" :)

Believe me, there will be ALOT of different things you guys will do differently once you have a little one tearing through your house :)

Eg: I never thought I would have a gigantic, multi-coloured sticker chart on my bathroom wall (DID YOU BRUSH YOUR TEETH?) or a construction paper sign above the hand towel rack that reads "WASH YOUR HANDS!"

hehe. Class.

i used to have those same sun catcher ornaments when i was a kid! however, i really don't remember them making the tree. :i

anyway, i think that's really awesome. we're really so excited to have pencil height marks on the walls and toys and little people things everywhere. :) :) we're not really trying just yet, but i am trying to wrap my head around natural birth control. since everything else makes me sick to my stomach, i am not on anything right now...sooo if something happens, we will definitely not be devastated. :)
