Wow, Ursula, I'm going to have to manufacture lots of 'spare time' in order to follow all these links and learn all this fascinating information. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I think you will enjoy them, Pat.
Every writer I have shared that information about Georges Polti's 36 Dramatic Situations said they found it helpful.
I have been reading a series of books about all of the First Ladies. Some of the things I have learned have been interesting. Especially about how they met their spouses. I always enjoy hearing about how people met their spouses or whomever they are dating. This can happen in the most unexpected ways.
Thanks for that link on story plots. It is so difficult writing in a fandom like S & H that was been around for decades and has thousands of stories. I used to worry about originality but I don't so much any more. I just think of what I want to say, then try to come up with the best way to say it. Sometimes it comes on gen, sometimes slash. My gen readers get upset with my slash, but if I find that's the best way to tell the story, I have to do with it.
I have not been to the first ladies' museum in Canton. I really need to make a point to go.
Have you seen the movie "Hyde Park on the Hudson" about FDR and his mistress? I thought it was wonderful. My husband didn't like that it exposed so many of FDR's foibles, but it showed him as 100% human.

I am glad you enjoyed that post about Plotlines and Georges Polti's book Spencer. It has helped many fan fic writers I have shared it with privately when they told me in private e-mails they were struggling to come up with original plots and tearing themselves up inside. That's why I wanted to share it on my LJ page so others could come across it

I agree. When done well, I don't mind seeing the same plot over again. As for the gen vs. slash debate, I'm still trying to work it out. It's a shame people can't just accept both. That's an awesome line from the Thornbirds. Thanks for passing it on. I have not read Ion. I guess I'll have to look that up. I always love to hear your insight into these things.
