He was a great man, and even though I never got to know him as well as I'd have liked, he will be dearly missed by myself and many others. This is very sad news, and I wish his family and friends the best.
Houston, Firstly, I am so very sorry for the loss of your father. I only ever knew him online. I called him "Brother Bear" because that is what he was to me. A brother. He was always a comfort to me when I needed it. A voice a reason. I iwll miss his humour and his love of photography. I will keep you all in my prayers.
Please I ask one favour. If he has a small plush bear, doesnt matter the colour or anything, if you could post it to me, if it's ok with Bob, of course, it would be of a great comfort to me.
Boy, did he ever have bear plushies. I'm sure there are some to go around. It's of course up to Bob and Houston.
My fondest memories that are attached to a plushie are definitely the to the one called 'Ballsy Bear' - the scruffy one who says things like "God, what a moron!" when you hug him. It also sometimes farts when you squeeze it, just like Ursus did to me one time!
He was so incredibly kind to me through the death of my mother, grandmother, and oldest cat, which happened within a six-week period; those six weeks also included the cancer surgery of my then-partner. I have a bear fetish he gave me, and a frame with a uniquely matted picture of my late cat. I will always, always remember your father as someone who reached out to me when things were truly at the lowest point of the crapbucket, and provided a listening ear and steadying presence.
He would have been proud of your beautiful testimonial to him. Thank you for letting everyone know. My icon says, "Though your blade pierce my heart, yet I shall persevere." May you have only happy memories of him.

I was just going to call him and see how he was.

There are no words that are sufficient to describe the loss.
