Just found out about this (OK, so maybe I'm a little slow, I don't watch Oprah, and I don't read books by former U.S. presidents...): Kiva.org. "Kiva lets you lend to a specific entrepreneur in the developing world - empowering them to lift themselves out of poverty."

Microlending is pretty awesome. After I went to Nigeria, some of the women in the village and some of the women from our group developped a microlending program for the women in the village.

It really brings things in perspective when you can loan someone $500 or even less, and watch them change their whole life for the better.
