I think that on the surface it seems like a great idea, but it could have a very slippery slope. How long until you must be declared a certain religion to pass the test to legally conceive? How long until you must legally be married, monogamous, and have part of the test be a social worker coming into your home to verify that you live with your spouse and no one else? What do they do if they find bondage gear? What about poly folks? Will they allow interracial marriages and mixed babies?
That last, these days, is a little bit of a stretch. Even 20 or 30 years ago that would not be such a stretch to imagine, and the Holocaust was less than 100 years ago.
I have to say no, because I don't trust my dictators.
No, because I don't agree with most politicians and lawmakers views of what is appropriate. I know I wouldn't want someone testing ME no my parenting skills/beliefs, since some people may fail me based on my beliefs (and my lifestyle!)
I do wish that we could somehow prevent about 330% of the population from procreating (since I work downtown in a big city with parents I see the worst of the worst), but unfortunately there is no good way to do it.
And who knows...in 500 years my answer might have been different. Overpopulation will eventually outweigh social freedoms, I think. Just look at China.
what about the people that accidently got pregnant before they took the course... would you force them to have an abortion? There is no way it could be inforced unless we were like china and didnt give people govermental support for not following the rules. Its idiotic.
I personally think we, as a generation, should learn to be better parents so that the next generation, our children, will want to strive to be better than us. That is the American dream right?
