Some people talk about how memory and nostalgia make bad events seem better as time goes on, but it also happens to make good events, great evens even, even better, even just days after the fact. Is it the same for you? Maybe it just takes the brain a week or so to make sense of it completely, but that's probably BS. I'm going to say it is. Movie ( Read more... )

Watched FROM PARIS WITH LOVE the other night with deridere. Was better than it had any right to be despite Travolta's ridiculous eyebrows.

I've heard such terrible, terrible things about it. Looks like Travolta has squandered what was left of his comeback. I don't want to say too bad because I don't think he really deserved the first one.

Hmm. Admittedly, I have a pretty low threshold for being entertained AND there are a handful of things that could have made the story better, but it wasn't a complete abject failure. I would gladly go see a sequel sight unseen.

That does happen to me, the thing with wonderful things seeming even better after some time. Partially for me I think it's that the event is still in my thoughts, I'm still thinking about it. It goes from being a great passing moment to being part of my life, which makes it matter more and gives it a brighter glow.
Time also sorts out genuinely good events from events that just felt good in passing. Maybe that's the same sort of BS as the brain needing processing time.

I enjoyed Scott Pilgrim more than I enjoyed Inception. I feel low-brow, but I can't help it.

I wouldn't really classify INCEPTION as high-brow, either. PILGRIM is certainly a more exclusive film.
