I'm watching an old british horror film called "The Asphyx", and yes, it's pronounced "ass-fix".  And oh my god the dialogue, and they're being so SERIOUS!!!!  Here--!

Father:  "The asphyx possessed my only son, sought him out and in him found release..."  ::::::collapses in fit of giggles::::::

Sounds like an old chestnut from Mystery Science Theatre 3000 (gods, but I miss that show...)
