Aww that sucks. >_< There's something really great about holding a book in your hands and reading it that way. I bought some Japanese Shounen Jumps back in the day just because I wanted to look at it in the original form. But I do like the new thing they're doing for the ipad, where you can buy comics and read them that way. Not that I have an ipad. >_>
I love holding a book in my hands! I guess the current generation grew up with free scanlations online so they feel like they shouldn't have to pay for it. It's kind of sad. :/
I like the option to have manga on my iPhone or on my iPad/Kindle if I had one. But I hope that it just doesn't kill off print completely. :/ I like being able to have access to high quality scans... I might even cave in and re-buy all of Inuyasha in the new omnibus collection because the artwork is unflipped and is larger with super high quality. *_* The paper quality is a lot nicer too. I'm such a sucker. XD;
Yeah, I couldn't remember if you mentioned they were reducing the amount of manga they had but I was pretty sure that if you had mentioned they got rid of ALL of it, I would have remembered that. XD;; I hadn't been there since I left last year and even then, they were shut down for a few weeks while they renovated. It kind of sucks in there now, since it's mostly just t-shirts when you first walk in. :/ The back room is pretty much exactly the same though
( ... )
I had a similar incident happen here in Tampa when after about a year, I went to Animenation and discovered they closed their storefront. I was in critical condition for a week, so I know the CRUSHED feeling.
*sigh*
I'm so sorry. That sucks. Yeah, it's great they take special orders, but there's NOTHING like walking in and seeing just a GIANT WALL of Japanese faces looking out at you. ;^;
That, and I prefer the store even if it's more expensive because I like driving home with something!--not having to wait for shipping. -.-
Yeah... I think part of my problem is that if I go out, I HAVE to come back with something in my hands. :< It just feels so depressing, going into a store and coming out with nothing at all. Especially if you really went far out of the way to get there! So I totally understand the whole not minding to pay an extra bit of money for that. XD
That sucks that you had to go through the same thing though. ;_; Did you at least have an alternative to go to after that?
Exactly! You GOTTA return with something! That 'something' makes it all worth it! lol, absolutely.
No, I have no alternative. -_-U Rightstuf International it is. I'm with you there--in that aside from cons, I don't know of any places that sell a lot of animanga products.
It's okay. At least you won't be AS poor as you would be if the wall still thrived. That's the only small hint of goodness I can conceive from this. ¬.¬U
There's tons of places here to buy manga, they're just somewhat more expensive than the place that had the Manga Wall. XD So I still fully intend to buy everything that I was going to buy before, it's just going to cost more now. T_T I wish the cover prices on books up here matched the USA ones again though. :/ It's not fair to pay so much more just because of an old conversion rate. ._.
