Although the cooling fins are extended, the only sign that it's not deactivated are occasional tiny shifts in weight as the arm slave mimics Mao's unconscious movements. Mao herself has got her eyes closed, is carefully controlling her breathing, and has emptied her mind

I think I need to admit to myself that I don't know how to meditate.

You could say that. Relying on fear and anger seems like such a clumsy way to use it.

"Fear and anger" isn't the most accurate way to describe it. As long as it's intense and focused enough, any emotion should do.

I'm trying to approach it backwards. I think if I can just get good enough at it, I might be able to turn it on with an intense lack of emotion.

If that makes any sense. It's hard to tell with things like this.
