Gahan Wilson's Usagi

I was a guest at the Boston Comic-con this past weekend. My table neighbor was Gahan Wilson, one of my favorite cartoonists ever. He is a very nice guy, and it was great getting to know him. We are both in the cartoon nursery rhyme anthology from First Second, coming out in the fall. He did his version of my Usagi Yojimbo:

Does that mean cartoonists will take the day off from drawing? Or do what they do every day, spend it drawing?

I'm encouraging everyone to hug their favorite cartoonist today :) (And also hug their favorite Cinco for Cinco de Mayo.)

I wasn't aware of today being Cartoonists Day until you mentioned it on FaceBook. Which is even better than a Pretend Mexican Independence Day.

And that drawing is just precious.

Hah! Maybe we need a cartooning awareness day first! Cartoon history month? Wow! Gahan Wilson, eh? I heard someone was planning to make a movie out of his Eddy Deco book. I wonder what ever happened to that?
