Name: Rider
Series: Fate/Stay Night
Timeline: During the Heaven’s Feel arc, when she goes back to being Sakura’s Servant
Canon Resource Links:
Her wiki page Affiliation: Breeder
Personality: Rider is described as being ‘silent, sultry, and vigilant’. She is very quiet, never speaking until she is being spoken to directly and feels that what’s being said actually warrants a response. When she does speak, she very direct and to the point, typically keeping her feelings out of the conversation. However, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t express anything at all. If she is fighting and has the upper hand, Rider has no problem with mocking her opponents, and when talking about her relationship with Sakura, she seems to soften up and speak warmly about the girl. Her speech is also rather formal and polite, but only when she’s not mocking people.
Although she is affectionate towards Sakura, as the two have a lot in common, Rider feels no warmth towards Shinji. She thinks of him as vile and pathetic creature, and will not hesitate to say how much of a coward he is to others while he isn’t around. However, as he has taken Sakura’s command seals and has control over Rider, she can’t do anything about it, and faithfully follows his instructions despite her personal feelings towards him. When Rider gains Sakura back as her Master in the Heaven’s Feel route, she quickly abandons Shinji and does everything in her power to keep Sakura alive. Even though Sakura is about to kill everyone in the area, she still dutifully protects her Master from the others. When they all begin living in Shirou’s home, Rider takes to looking after Sakura, although she cannot do anything when Sakura becomes ill. However, she follows her Master’s commands to the end, even after she goes insane, and does what she can to save her from Zouken.
It is not fully seen in each route on its own, but Rider does have a sadistic side to her. When confronting Shirou in the school, she slashes his arms to pieces rather than killing him quickly, and when her spike can’t kill him, she instead kicks him out the window of the third floor. In another route, she stalks Shirou in the forest. She then attacks him and strings him up in a tree by his arm, mocking him as the boy attempts to escape. In Heaven’s Feel, her first battle while back under Sakura’s control consists of her spiking True Assassin and then using him as a flail until all his bones are broken. Needless to say, her methods can be rather dirty, especially when someone pisses her off. When she’s not fighting, though, Rider can actually seem rather polite, although there is an obvious sense of blood-lust and sadness about her.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths: As one can tell by her name along, Rider has an excellent ability to ride pretty much anything. This can range from modern vehicles to Divine and Phantasmal Beasts, although it does not extend to the dragon race. Her main mount is her child, Pegasus. Since she herself has been considered a monster and banished by humans, Rider has formed connections with the beasts humans have hunted down as well. This could potentially mean that she can form connections with most creatures, since humans are pricks and hunt a lot of different species to extinction. She is also extremely agile and quick, able to defy gravity and dodge several attacks without being harmed. In battle, Rider has been shown to be extremely cunning. In order to make up for her weaknesses, Rider takes time to assess the situation and use her surroundings and opponents weaknesses to her advantage. Lastly, Rider is loyal to a fault, although this usually only extends to her Masters and people she trusts beyond all others.
Weaknesses: Rider has extremely low endurance, luck, and divinity. If she is injured in battle, it’s hard for her to recover, even if the wound isn’t a fatal one. Her distrust of other can also be seen as a potential weakness, since won’t turn to others for assistance even when she really needs it. One of her greatest fears is looking into a mirror (this can either be due to her eye or because she’ll remember what kind of monster she is), so she’ll probably freak out if anyone brings one out. Also, even though she is a Rider Servant, her abilities do not extend to dragons. This could potentially give her problems if she feels like riding a Dragonite, although she probably knows better…

Samples
First Person Sample: [When the device is turned on, others might see the face of a beautiful young woman staring back. She remains silent for a few moments, trying to see if this was how she was supposed to work her… ‘PokeGear’, or whatever the person had called it.]
For those of you who may be listening, I require information about this place. Should you have advice for leaving this land, I would like to hear that as well.
[A Ponyta appears on screen, trying to get its owner’s attention. Rider glances over, her lips turning upward to form a barely visible smile. She runs her hand along its next, muttering softly to it.]
Although I cannot imagine a world with such beautiful creatures being difficult to bear. Even though you are not my child, I can tell you will make a wonderful companion.
[Looking back at the PokeGear, Rider’s expression becomes neutral once more.]
It is important that I return to the land I came from. To those of you with useful information, I wish to hear from you.
Third Person Sample: Her first thought upon arrival was, ‘what sort of world have I been summoned to now?’. This obviously wasn’t a dream, as Servants could have none, and this most definitely was not the afterlife. Still, as Rider began to mull over it a bit more, she realized that such summoning would have been impossible. After all, she didn’t remember being defeated, and had she been summoned for another war, she would have no recollection of Sakura or anyone from the previous world. Something was definitely wrong…
Eyes widening, Rider’s hands suddenly flew to her face, touching the skin around her eyes. Her Breaker Gorgon….it was gone! This could only spell disaster for this world, as one look from her Mystic Eyes would turn any unsuspecting human to stone. Not that the lives of humans really mattered to her, but she would rather not use such a power if she didn’t have to. A quick survey of the room produced no visor, and so Rider was forced to head downstairs. There, a strange woman walked up to her, smiling and holding a bundle in her hands. She put the bag into Rider’s hands, spoke a few words, and then hurried the young woman out the door. Rider simply went along with it, too stunned by the fact that the woman hadn’t frozen to really respond.
Once outside, Rider’s eyes wandered around. People were walking about everywhere, most of them just minding their own business. ‘How can this be?’ Rider wondered. ‘Only a sorcerer could conjure up such illusions powerful enough to affect me in such a manner.’ After looking around a bit, her eyes landed on an old man. This one happened to be looking directly at her, surprise obvious in his eyes. Rider remained calm, gazing back at him with a neutral expression. He too began speaking with her, although he made about as much sense as the woman.
Just as she considered leaving the man to his rantings, Rider felt something soft brushing against her arm. Turning her head, her lips parted in mild surprise as a beautiful white horse with a mane of fire lifted its head. It blinked up at her, only to give a soft whiney and bump its nose against her once more. Relaxing, Rider ran a hand along the creature’s snout. It seemed pleased by the action and nuzzled her hand. The limb soon fell back to her side. Rider turned to look at a path, seemingly the only one which led out of the small town. Still ignoring the old man, who had fallen silent by this point, Rider set out down the path, the white horse with the mane of fire following close beside her. She would find her answers, but with such a beautiful creature by her side, perhaps the journey would not be as terrible as she thought.
