[ Oh, it's a Smoochum! He knows Smoochum care, after raising his own. ]

Let her hang out. Maybe watch others battle.

She doesn't even seem to want to do that. She likes staying in my arms.

That's fine too, isn't it?

I would like her not to feel like she's a dead weight in our journey.

Can't you just treat her like a pet?

She's not a pet! She's like a family member.

Well, if you don't want to give her away, you should keep her! You don't have to make her fight, after all.

I just don't want her to worry if I get into a battle. She's done it a few times.

Oh, she doesn't like it when you fight at all? Hmm...maybe you shouldn't let her watch, then!

Or you could probably distract her to keep her happy.

If I'm battling then I can't distract her either. Everyone else will get hurt. And she doesn't exactly want to go back into her PokeBall either.

[Ieyasu can't help but smile a bit fondly at that. Oh Motochika, you're still as kind as he remembers. Though the situation also amuses him a bit, considering the Teddiursa who's sitting on his shoulder, licking her paws.]

Well... what I did with Urs was let her practice battling against the pokemon she was familiar with for a while so she could gain confidence!

There's no reason to fret, Motochika. Yours will also grow into it or adjust, I'm sure.

She does not even want to enter battle, Ieyasu. That's the only reason I'm concerned for her.

However, she does very much enjoy spending time with me. I cannot fault her for this.

[a chuckle at that]

You'll have a hard time finding someone who doesn't enjoy spending time with you, my friend!

But if that's the case... well... I suppose there's technically no need for her to enter battle if the rest of your team is capable enough.

I'm sure I could name at least one!

My team is strong enough that she is not needed in battle, but that's not why I am concerned about her!

You should just take care of her and raise her without battling.

That's my plan, but what else can she do? I don't want her to feel like she's worthless.

Hmm... what about... simple chores?
