Fay Affiliation: Team Rocket
Personality: At first glance, Fay comes off as being just as he acts - friendly, and with a smile on his face. When you first meet him, these things seem to be an almost constant. He tries to keep a positive atmosphere, offering to help Syaoran while on their journey, as well offering small tidbits of advice and even giving nicknames where he sees fit.
Though underneath it all, Fay truly is kind and caring, this attitude is mostly a farce. His smiles and outgoing attitude are nothing more than a way to keep the attention off of him - to keep people from asking questions beyond the very basics. This is for more than one reason. The first is his lack of self-worth; he doesn’t feel that his troubles are worthy of the attention of his traveling companions. The second is his multitude of lies that he holds - including his own nature, information about his magic, his past, and his knowledge of the situation at hand.
He comes into the story completely aware of his role, though only lets the group know that he doesn’t want to go back to his home world. Some of his lies are for convenience of a situation - such as not telling Syaoran that the first feather recovered had actually been in his possession.
In most situations, Fay will plant a smile on his face, regardless of how he truly feels. Underneath the smiling face lies a man who is extremely troubled, sad, and in fear of how the future will turn out. Though these smiles are in place to keep his distance, the progression of the story showcases that he in-fact cares more for his traveling companions than he’d like to admit. At the point where they’ve entered the country of LeCourt, he’s begun to realize (due to Kurogane pointing it out) that he cares a bit more deeply for Sakura and Syaoran than he intended. It isn’t until the Tokyo arc (a point from beyond where he shall be brought from) that he sees just how close he’s become to Kurogane as well, and just how important all of these people are to him, much to his chagrin. When forced to realize this situation, he draws back in an extreme way. Gone are the smiles and façade, and replaced with more somber Fay - one who doesn’t tease, give nicknames or have any of his general displayed silliness, but instead is a more accurate representation of the personality he hides from everyone up until that point.
Despite every feeling of anger, pain and regret from his past, his possible future and desire to keep his companions at arm’s length, Fay’s own wish to remain alive and bring his brother back to life affect how he reacts to the people around him - another point of contention he doesn’t quite yet realize at this point in time. Still, for as long as things can remain “the same” within the group, and his past his hidden from the people he’s growing to care deeply for, his false smiles will remain in place. Even if this makes Kurogane angry, due to his ability to see right through Fay’s façade. It doesn’t matter to him though, as long as his many secrets can remain safe for the time being, regardless of the guilt they bring, he’ll keep smiling and offering kindness when he can.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
♠ Friendly: Often with a smile, Fay is outgoing and usually fun for others to interact with. Though he’ll keep them at arms length in terms of his personal information, he’s often kind to be around and easy to deal with.
♠ Skilled and powerful magician: This is something that he with neither advertise or be able to use in the setting, but he was considered to be one of the strongest wizards in Celes.
♠ Combat skills: Though not one to display them, Fay can hold his own in battle without the use of magic. He’s skilled with a bow - though in most cases, he avoids direct conflict and prefers to use his agility to dodge enemies attacks, usually.
♠ Caring: Even if it’s not something he wants, he can’t help but shoulder deep care and responsibility for those he grows close to, and will do what he can to protect them - going as far as to use the magic he’d promised himself not to use I order to try and save the Clone Syaoran when the magic seal on him had broken.
• Cursed: Again, not something that will ever come into play in the setting, but still an important thing to Fay. His first curse is that he will, regardless of whether or not he consents, kill the first person he meets with stronger magic than him. The second is even less relevant, pertaining to a circumstance that could only happen while in the country of Celes. Still, the knowledge of the first curse weighs on him heavily - while he remains unaware of the second.
• Troubled: For a number of reasons, Fay is psychologically troubled. Part of it is due to the belief drilled into him as a child that twins were a curse - a sin to exist. Part of it is the belief that he allowed his twin to die. He also knows a lot more about his companions than he lets on (such as Syaoran’s true nature), and the nature of their journey -- all of which he keeps a secret from those around him. With the passage of time, this only proves to be more problematic.
• Liar?: Due to the above situations, Fay often lies about details and information, especially if it involves him directly. From his name to the use of his magic, he’s not adverse to telling lies in order to keep the attention where he wants it -- off of him.

Yoo-hoo! Hellooo? I guess that light means it’s on, right? These instructions aren’t exactly the most helpful ones I’ve ever seen! Well, I’ll speak on the assumption that someone can hear this~
Either way, it seems I’ve been separated from my companions. It’s happened once or twice before, but it’s not very common, so perhaps using these things, someone can help me find their whereabouts? All I’ve got here is a strange change of clothes and a very cute little creature~ Neither really helps in finding them, though!
Of course, if there’s a chance they’ll hear this, I won’t go into describing them at length unless they don’t immediately reply! It’d be silly to trouble anyone else over something like that, hm? Though, in the meantime, if anyone hears of anyone else asking from someone who’s looking for them, please tell them that Mommy is looking for them, too!

When his eyes fluttered open, Fay found himself immediately wary of the circumstances. He was more than aware something was wrong. It had to be. They’d only just arrived in the country of LeCourt, and now he was here. The room was quiet, the air was stale - and most importantly, he was alone.
The blonde’s lips turned downwards while his eyebrow arched curiously. It wasn’t magic. No, it couldn’t be. He couldn’t sense any magic, not even his own. That was a troublesome thought all its own. The world itself seemed to have a power-block, or some sort of magic to suppress other’s magic. Which meant that if he couldn’t uses his magic, Mokona wouldn’t be able to either… effectively trapping them in a potentially dangerous or life-threatening situation.
Well, he couldn’t have that. No, he still had many things to do. His eyes scanned the small room curiously. The change of clothes was… interesting, to say the least. Was this a prison? A cult? A job uniform? He had no idea, and he wasn’t sure if putting it on was a good idea. But Fay also didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention if he tried to leave. If he even could, of course.
The whole situation was leaving him with a mild sense of dread. His eyes narrowed and just as quietly as the air was around him, he opened the door and peered out. There were people walking, all in the same clothing. Just as quickly, the door closed and he weighed his options. There weren’t many, it seemed, so he opted to change into the black clothing.
It’d be easier to figure things out if he blended in anyway, he figured. Once dressed, he swung the door open and planted a smile on his face. A Grunt passing by eyed him curiously, but Fay just quirked his head to the side slightly and closed his eyes, letting the smile speak for itself for a moment.
“This may sound strange, but I think I’m a bit lost!” Fay chuckled, trying to use his quickest wit to assess the situation. “Is there somewhere a… new recruit like me should be?”
His heart was racing, unsure if his choice of wording was right. But the smile remained, giving the stranger belief that nothing was wrong. He wasn’t kind, nor was he rude, but simply pointed Fay in the right direction. “Such a great help! Thank you!”
Offering a wave, Fay took off in that direction - at the very least, if the others were nearby, he’d be able to find them there.
