[ y harro. ]

There was a rather nice café I visited regularly in Italy. Their brand of coffee was the most exquisite; I rather miss it. [ Hey, they had great coffee and danishes. ]

That's funny - I was just talking to this other guy about how food seems to have a stronger psychological effect on us than anything else. A "culinary time machine", so to speak.

You think we're on to something, doctor?

I believe so.

Food can have many impacts on us that are not just purely physical but also emotional and psychological. Eating certain foods can bring back fond memories, which could cause many to delve into a life of obesity to relive said memories. It would not be too outrageous to assume that many of us are simply slaves to food, as some only eat certain types because they feel 'safe' around them and being forced to eat any other kind -- even another brand, such as another type of white bread other than Wonder -- could lead to a mental breakdown. I didn't even think of that - it does make a lot of sense, finding comfort in something to excess. In some ways I can see how food could be even more dangerous: unlike alcohol or similar addictions we usually treat gluttony and obesity as just that. A lack of exercise, a physical problem when it could just as well be mental.

[This is so fascinating. So. Fascinating.]

You sure seem to have given this a lot of thought.
