[The video feed actually comes in on a battle in progress! It's Whitney's Miltank beating herself up and staggering around- it's pretty clear it's the end of the battle, and after a moment the cow falls over, clearly finished off by both poison and her own confusion. Anyone who's dealt with Whitney probably expects the crying jag that comes next, ( Read more... )

[The broken arm and leg might have something to do with it.] I will as soon as the gym leader stops being an embarrassment to anything female.

She does that all the time. I think it's just programmed into her or something.

[... Have a low, impressed whistle.]

[Heather'd had some pretty blunt, unfriendly words for Whitney as well (after she'd already gotten a reputation for it... turns out when some blond punk shows up to watch all her friends' gym battles and then makes fun of you when you cry after the match EVERY TIME, you remember it), but not quite... that blunt.]

I probably wouldn't have been so... harsh, but my arm started hurting and she makes anything female look bad by doing that. She's older than me, too.

Pfft, no, you were fine. More people need to say it how it is.

Maybe now she'll put on her big girl panties and DEAL when she loses.

[... Nope. But she can dream, right?]

She does. I mean, I got thrashed in the first round of the tournament, but do you see me carrying on about how much of a 'big meanie' the guy who beat me is? She's not even hurt, just throwing a freaking temper tantrum. [The casts certainly... lend some weight to that argument.]

I know Whitney can be a bit of a cry baby, but you really don’t have to speak so harshly to her. Once she has a good cry she will give you the badge you won.

Did you grow up being constantly underestimated because you're a "little girl" and can't possibly be any good?

She put herself in that job, she's older than me, and the least she can do is act like it.

No, I didn’t.

[Quite obviously, since he is a guy. ^,^ ]

But, it does take some people longer to mature than others. She might not even be able to help that she cries so often if its in her nature to do that.

[As for the rest. ]

You really shouldn’t worry about what other people think about you anyway. You should just do the best you can and try to improve yourself for your own sake.

She's a professional doing a job. She set herself up that way. She should not be throwing temper tantrums just because someone stronger than her came along and managed the nigh-impossible feat of beating her. She's like some kind of living stereotype!

It's bad enough I had to deal with girls who acted like that back home. [Ritz is scowling a little.] And I'm not doing this to please anyone- I'm doing it because otherwise I'd be bored stupid and probably be driving everyone around me insane.

[Kuja is following outside, with Iago following behind him, looking uncertain and being confused - should he be following, or should they be staying? This wasn't how this had worked the last few times...]

A touch harsh, but I'm surprised that doesn't happen more often.

[Ritz is just sort of slumping back a little in the saddle and nodding.] She's lucky I don't have the patience to read her chapter and verse of how much of an idiot she's being. And I know it's not something you've ever had to put up with, but... how many "little girls" do you know of who've been looked over and underestimated because everyone expects us to be exactly like that-- that-- sniveling brat in there, with a head full of empty, who cries at the drop of a hat?

[He gives a sour look at that.]

Royalty and aristocrats. I spent a great deal of time around royalty, and aristocrats.

Sounds like some of the girls I was used to dealing with at school. [She's pushing her hair back with her good hand and scowling.] I might have been a little bit mean there, but she did have it coming. If she set herself up to do that job, she should at least be willing to take responsibility for the good and bad parts of it.

It's not like I'm exactly sitting here whining like a spoiled brat because that freak kicked my butt.
