Youji was not going to run over upon hearing that voice after a week of silence. He wasn't unlike Ran in that regard; there were certain situations in which he was willing to sacrifice his dignity, but men never factored into them.
It wasn't that Ken wasn't worth the occasional sacrifice of dignity. Ken was a good person, decent company, very handy when one's life was in danger, and absolutely essential when he needed a laugh. So Ken was worth some sacrifices.
Didn't mean Youji had to make them.
Sneaking up on a Psychic Pokemon was bound to have its perils, but Youji had gotten a noose around Schuldig's neck before. This provided a good dose of confidence. Ran was expressly forbidden from killing him, so there was that comfort, too.
Ran was concerned for his master, and this was the final impetus, so Youji sidled up behind the Pokemon, gave it a rough, quick shove, and betrayed himself by laughing at the sight the little group on the couch made.
"Try to wake up a little more quietly next time, hm?"

Of course, Ken was the one out for a week, and Youji was the one acting like a princess about it. Oh well. It wasn't like Ken wanted massive amounts of concern.
Ran's glare at Youji for that stunt--so much like his namesake, really--made Ken snort in amusement. He couldn't help it--the Gardevoir looked so damn affronted by it.
"Maybe I should've just stayed a bloody vegetable, would that have been quiet enough for you?" Not that he had a choice in the matter, and not that he would've chosen that if he had. But still.

"Before I'd have said yes, but now I know vegetables snore just as badly. So don't do that again, all right? They," he indicated the Pokemon, "may just smother you if you try."
Considering that his obligatory show of almost caring, Youji leaned back against the wall and slides out a cigarette. And deliberately winked at Ran. Oh, come on, you know you wanted to. I just provided the excuse.
"Can I stop curbing myself and just be as much of an asshole as you expect, and, I suspect, prefer? Or are you still too fragile?"
ever and ever :DusedfuryswipesJune 23 2011, 09:52:13 UTC
"I don't snore." That usually involves sleeping deeply. "You just like to bitch about any little bloody thing you can." Say what you will, Yotan--the man knows you well.
Ran's glare didn't settle from that, though. 'Unlike you, some of us are capable of controlling childish impulses,' the psychic-type broadcasted--to Youji only, as he floated back to an upright position, brushing off some imaginary bit of dirt. He still floated close to Ken's side, though.
Glancing between the two at the obviously-missed exchange, Ken shrugged. "I'm surprised you lasted this long, really."
I think you're giving yourself a bit too much credit, there: Never said I was miserable. Just annoyed that once more, we get to deal with your posturing. 'Annoyed' is a far cry from 'miserable.'
Hell, give me a few hours to get properly woken up and I might even manage 'perky'.
[Aya hasn't gotten back to the inn yet but he's grateful to hear Ken's voice. Smiling a little, he calls Ken. Of course he uses the audio function so that way Ken won't see how tired he is.]

[Smiling, despite his own tired look--being soulless for a week surprisingly isn't as resting as one might think. Yeah, he's happy to hear from you after the week he's had.]
Yeah, and I get to deal with Youji and that German bastard first thing. When the hell'd he get back?
Video I WILL, THANKS.gentiana_clusiiJune 23 2011, 20:06:16 UTC
[His smile brightens for a second--oh hey, he got his way. :D]
Oh well. Shit happens.
[And really, Schuldig is just an annoyance to him. Sure...the guy could come out with the whole assassin thing, but then they'd just have to tell the truth, Ken supposed.
After the week he's had--that dreamworld of his--it doesn't seem quite so daunting.]
I'm more torked by the fact I won't be able to call Youji lazy for at least a month.

[Wherever he went wasn't very golden...'course, he's not gonna tell Nai that. Some things kids just don't need to hear about, and a giant shallow lake of blood with bodies everywhere? Yeah that's one of them. Ken, your subconscious is kinda messed up.]
It just took me a little longer than usual to wake up, that's all. Everyone'll be fine now.

[All smiles and sunshine.]
Guten Morgen, Kenken.

I really didn't, actually. Perfectly happy without you about.
[You can be smiles and sunshine all you want, Ken will settle for being pissy and glaring.]

So, let's just say: Believe me, if I had any fucking choice about it, I'd not be here.
But since I am, it's at least satisfying to see that the fact alone makes you pathetic bunch even more miserable.

Except waking up to Schuldig. That I could've done without.
[Why, no, Schu, he doesn't care if you're listening in.]
...hey, Ran said you dragged me back to town. Thanks for that.

Yeah.
What did Schuldig say? Did he make any threats?
Reply
Nah, he's just being an annoying git.
