drama cd Personality:
As described by Kyouko and Homura, Madoka is far too nice and friendly. She gets along with everyone or she tries to at least. Her own mother feels that she raised her daughter well, describing her as an exceptionally good girl who always tries to do what she thinks is right. She dislikes seeing hopelessness in others and yearns to help out somehow. Sadly, Madoka seems to believe that she would continue to live her life without being of help anyone.
Not only does she care about her close friends and family, but strangers as well. Upon meeting Homura for the very first time, she eagerly takes up her job as a class monitor and does everything she can to make a new student feel welcome and give reassurance. She becomes quick friends, even allowing someone she just met to call her by her first name. Though if Madoka is treated coldly in return, such as the time she met Homura again from a different timeline, she grows awkward and frightened. Despite the discomfort, she tries to find ways to relieve the tension. While her Mami Tomoe and Sayaka Miki jumped to the conclusion that Homura had bad intentions from the beginning, Madoka was skeptical and tried to understand her through her observations. She prefers making an effort to get along and fight on the same side rather than fighting amongst each other. While her kindness is a positive trait of hers, Madoka has very little self-esteem.
She often places blame on herself and believes she doesn't have any talents. The best that she feels that she can offer to her friends is being by their side and ensuring them that they're not alone. But even then, she believes that she may become a burden or a distraction and wants to be able to do more for others. Seeing others in trouble while feeling helpless often causes her break down. When she sees a strong person like Mami Tomoe, a friend and magical girl who fights to protect, she deeply admires them, also wishing she can have the strengths as an "ally of justice".
Madoka is also naive and gullible. Kyubey has presented the opportunity for Madoka to become a magical girl many times, tempting her by claiming that he can grant any wish and change fate. She wasn't fully aware that wishing for hope can create an equivalent amount of despair and Homura would often step in to change her fate. When presented with the chance to save others in some way, she would jump for that chance without much thought. Her strong desire to help and protect people can sometimes lead her into trouble.

First Person Sample:
[ The video feed flickers to life, showing a young pink-haired girl around the age of fourteen. Madoka is wearing a worried expression on her face and sounds quite shaken as she speaks. ]
Hello, my name is Kaname Madoka. I really need someone's help. My Happiny... she's...
[ There's a pause as she takes a sharp intake of breath. She adjusts the camera to point down at the beaten Happiny curled up in her arms. ]
She's really hurt and we ran out of potions. We need someone to help us get to the nearest Pokemon Center right away.
...
[ A sob as she embraces the baby pokemon even closer. Her next words are more towards to herself, but the video feed is still running. ]
I'm sorry... I'm so sorry... I should've been more prepared for this...
Third Person Sample:
"What do I do...?" The pink-haired girl murmured softly to herself, looking down at the two pokeballs in her hands.
The skies were growing dark and the next town was still too far away. It wouldn't have been a problem setting up a small camp if Madoka didn't have two injured pokemon accompanying her. Though they were safely tucked away in their balls, she couldn't help but worry about them. She would have preferred it if they could get their injuries treated as quickly as possible, but with how late it was getting, it might be safer for her stay put. Her Happiny and Sentret were the only two pokemon she had.
Crouching down, she rummaged through her bags to search for any potions she had left. Much like how she grew quickly used to going through the barriers of witches, she was also quickly adapting to Johto and getting an understanding of how the world worked. But unlike Mitakihara City, there were no Puella Magi or witches in this world. It wasn't as scary.
It wasn't lonely with her Happiny keeping her company, but Madoka couldn't help but sometimes wonder if Homura and the others had met the same fate as her. And were Mama, Papa, and Tatsuya still back home? Were they safe even though she couldn't defeat Walpurgisnacht? Continuing to wonder about it wouldn't do her any good. There was nothing she could do about it while she was in Johto...
"Happiny. Sentret. Come on out." She called to them gently as she released the two. She couldn't return to Mitakihara City, so she could at least help her two new friends in Johto.
The two pokemon appeared out of the pokeballs, only to quickly flop over on the grass, battered and exhausted from their previous battle.
The Sentret was the newest addition to Madoka's team and seemed a little cautious about the new trainer, slowly edging itself away. She mainly did her training with other trainers who challenged her and couldn't stand the thought of harming the pokemon wandering the tall grass. However, the wild Sentret just had to take her by surprise and she had no choice to fight. While she obviously won, she refused to leave the injured pokemon in the grass.
"Here, Happiny. Hold still, a little bit." Madoka knelt beside the egg pokemon, spraying it with the potion bottle. "There. Are you feeling better now?"
The Happiny pushed herself up beaming and squeaking happily up at her trainer. Seeing that made Madoka giggle.
"Ehehe. I'm glad you're doing fine now. I really need to give you a proper name. I'm still giving it some thought."
Nearby, the Sentret was observing Madoka's actions. The wariness from the pokemon was fading, after seeing all that Madoka wanted to do was help. Madoka quickly turned her attention to the new pokemon of her team, not forgetting that it also needed caring for.
With a comforting smile, she held out her hand towards the Sentret. If she could get it to come closer to her, she could try to heal its wounds.
"It's okay... it's okay. I'll help you too."
