I've been told it's an entirely different world. I suppose it would fit that the passage of time would differ as well...assuming this is such a place.

It actually is. No one really knows why or how we got into this world, but it's clear that it is a different one since Pokémon aren't real in our world, after all.

That's the intention. Traveling from town to town, training your Pokémon and capturing new ones and possibly trying to become the strongest trainer by challenging the Gym leaders.

[He smiles slightly]

Not everyone has the same goal, though. You find your own purpose on your way.
