Personality: Akako, first and foremost, is an extremely overpowered... teenager. This means that as a seventeen year old, she is less concerned with responsible uses of magic and ethical debates and much more concerned with popularity and being loved, whether or not she loves in return. She desires for everyone to love her, and those that don't, she is determined to make them fall in line. Unluckily for Kaito Kuroba, he is the one man that falls in the way. When things don't go her way, she can be brutal, attempting to mindwash Kaito, and at one point, even kill him.
Despite the fact that she seems to act as though she hates Kaito, when push comes to shove, she can't stomach the thought of killing him or letting Kid be caught by the police, going to long lengths to rescue him so that he can continue being a phantom thief. While it would be a stretch to say that she loves him in any sort of healthy way, she is genuinely fond of him, and slowly recognizing that.
Akako can be extremely determined to the point of singlemindedness. She approaches problems from various angles, but rarely are they any sort of compromise. She tends to barrel through things with brute force in the shape of her magic, and when her magic fails her, she tends to be lost in the water, unsure of how to progress from there. It's a large weakness that she is not terribly good at surviving without her magic to fall back on.
Slowly but surely throughout canon, Akako is slowly maturing, going from a naive and selfish red witch to a more mature young woman who is beginning to understand love. It would be silly to think that she has any sort of concept of selflessness or true generosity, but she is learning the value of things and the importance of both friendship and real love, actively being pushed towards both by Kaito Kuroba and Aoko Nakamori, the latter of which frequently calls Akako-chan her friend.
Akako is quiet and strikes when it's least expect, her calm voice doing nothing to betray the fact that inside she is a loud storm of rage and passion for various things. She is good at not allowing others to see the emotions inside of her, letting them out only in private and around her demonic servants.
She's a very insecure individual, when it comes down to it: when people view Akako for who she really is, instead of who she proclaims to be or what she looks like, and genuinely compliment her on that... she has no defense against it. She hates crying, but she does it because of Kaito; because Kaito was not afraid of her, and charmed her even when he had every reason not to. Akako thinks she is far tougher than she is; would like to be far tougher than she is. As unmovable as she is in the face of most males, Kaito is the one she fixates on and is the one most capable of hurting her without meaning to.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Akako is an extremely determined individual-- it can be viewed as a strength or a weakness, depending on how you please. She loves very hard, and isn't used to loving at all, which means that she's bother extremely devoted and extremely confused: romantic notions are lost on her. Bringing her flowers and chocolates won't do a whole lot but convince her that you're under her allure, that she has you by the scruff and you'll do whatever she wants. She likes that just fine, to the point where she's virtually unphased by it. Why would she be anything else, when she's so used to it? But when people don't react like that to her, she can be extremely jealous and vindictive. She is gorgeous, intelligent, powerful! Why wouldn't men throw themselves at her feet? She'll be quietly furious with any woman who removes the spotlight from her, and intensely disturbed by any man who can ignore her.
She's very good at getting her way, particularly through the use of feminine wiles and magic, and she's terrible when she doesn't. Despite this, perhaps her one greatest weakness is people truly accepting her, forgiving her, and seeing her beauty as something inner instead of the obvious outward beauty. She's insecure, enough that compliments, genuine ones, can move her. Kaito compliments her, which may be what truly secures him a place in her heart: he is under no spell of hers (not for lack of trying) and seems immune to her allure, so a compliment from him is worth more than all the thousands of others she's gotten throughout her life.
She has a mild anger problem, all carefully contained; she would never tell you to your face that she hates you. She will simply think it, loudly, and plot your demise in a way that no one will trace back to her, smiling the entire time.
She's also a little too confident. In a situation she believes she has control over, losing control will throw her dangerously off balance while she recalculates.

Samples
First Person Sample: [when the Gear feed clicks on, there is an oddly pretty looking redheaded girl on screen, hands folded in her lap. The Gear seems to be balanced on her bag, from the perspective and the lack of bag otherwise in the picture. She looks like she's attempting to remain calm, and when she starts speaking, her tone is carefully measured.]
That woman was not my mother. The manual explains absolutely nothing that I actually wanted to know, and I see no point to this charade at all. [there's a frown, and her eyes track a Misdreavus as it floats into the picture, peers at the Gear, and then completely obscures the footage. There's a command of "stop that!" followed by Akako attempting to swat the creature off, largely obvious by her hand hitting the Gear, going straight through the Pokemon. The Misdreavus floats away as the Gear falls off of the pack, and there's a scuffle for a moment, resulting in an angry, ear-piercing screech coming from one of the parties involved. When Akako picks the Gear back up, her calm demeanor is considerably lessened, and there is a Misdreavus sitting happily on her shoulders, absolutely tangled in Akako's long red hair.]
Furthermore, if anyone has any advice on how to rid myself of this creature-- or on how to leave this place-- I would consider myself-- [a pause here, as if she doesn't quite want to say it, and then] --in your debt.
Thank you.
Third Person Sample: Figuring out exactly what was going on would be distinctly easier, Akako reflected, if everytime she latched onto a train of thought, it wasn't promptly derailed by that irritating ghostly creature pulling on her hair. She let out a quiet hiss of irritation as she managed to successfully dodge the-- thing, swinging her bag at it and moving steadily away. Why wouldn't it stop following her?
Akako took a breath, steadying herself slightly. On top of the irritating thing following her, the clearly delusional woman claiming to be her mother, the suburban nightmare that was supposedly her house, and the completely ludicrous concept of Pokemon, her powers weren't working. Her allure was completely gone, none of the men around paying her anymore attention than they would any other attractive female, and she couldn't summon a ball of lint, much less anything helpful. Her spells were all but nonexistent, and even if she had the ingredients to make a potion, she doubted it would work. It felt like a part of her had been removed, stomped on, and tossed callously into a river, and she hated it. It left her entirely too helpless.
This entire situation seemed perfectly calculated to annoy her. It went far beyond a simple prank, so it couldn't have been Kaito Kuroba, even if she privately wished she could blame it on him. If it was his fault, then it would be a familiar feeling; she would have the ability to threaten him a little until things went her way again. But this-- he wasn't capable of taking her powers like this. He wasn't capable of the sort of power that this would require, and it bothered... her...
"Drea!"
Akako let out a screech as the creature pulled her hair, again, a few strands of red making their way onto the ground. "Stop doing that, you infernal creature!"
