someone recently reminded me of a piece of advice i dispensed years ago, which was as follows:
"it hurts, but it's supposed to."
i guess what i was trying to say was that it hurts because that's our way of making the pain leave and/or dealing with it, whatever it may be. we cope with pain by acknowledging it hurts, because that is its very function.
i find that empathy works as well, though, and it's less prone to making you feel terribly shitty. so here's a hug and some well-wishes, laura. just think of all the good in your life right now (and i know for a fact there's a bit, haha) and think of how good/happy that makes you feel. live for that, not for what hurts.
anyways, sorry about the mini-essay. i'm going through some feelings myself, so it's making me quite verbose. haha.
