[look at this charming man on screen, Johto! look at his sunglasses as they cheerfully reflect the sunlight, and that sunny smile on his face! this is no normal newcomer to Johto, oh no. This is Major Hyuuga of the Barsburg Imperial Army, and he is totally ready to do some major slacking off and not have to worry about paperwork!!]

[Pffft, at least he's enthusiastic. Good for him.]

Howdy and welcome! Trust me, you'll be sick of walking pretty damn soon. [He says that with a grin, though!]

Don't get too carried away, the nearest town is three days of walking away. And nope, you don't get any paperwork to do, unless you choose to work part-time as a secretary or something.

Only three days? That's not bad at all! [it really is a vacation!] Ah, I suppose I'll have to set up camp at night then, too, won't I?

[his tone shifts a little--] I can't imagine why anyone would choose to do paperwork.

Well, it's to the nearest town, but it's just a few cottages scattered around, really. If you wanna get to some decent civilization, you've gotta give it at least ten days. And yeah, you got it right! You should have everything you need for that in the backpack you got from, uh, "mom".

... 'Cause they're getting paid for it? [DUH.]

What counts as decent civilization here? [he hasn't seen any sign of division by districts, which is mildly confusing to him.]

You never get paid enough for paperwork.

My, my, you certainly are adjusting well~! How lovely!

I don't think you would be forced to do any paperwork...Though, there are several part time jobs one could take up if they rather enjoy work of that sort!

[Misinterpreted? You betcha.]

And the next town isn't too terribly far! I think it took me...Oh, about a week. Then again, I did get turned around once or twice.

Adaptability is one of my best features! [and that's not even a lie.]

I want to avoid paperwork at all costs!! This is too nice of a place to be ruined by something so loathsome.

How wonderful~! It's usually quite nice here, but...well, it's ever so nice to be able to adapt here~!

Ah, then you won't want to do deskwork at the Pokemon Center. But there are plenty of other things to do! It's really a lovely place.

Is there anything to do that's hands-on? I enjoy being active! If it isn't early in the morning?

Are most people that arrive here unexcited about it? [curious look. how strange of a concept!]

Ah, I'm glad! [a broad smile-- not that it's any different than his usual expression.] It seems energy will serve me well, with all the traveling to do here.

To Cherrygrove City? I think it's about three days.

[ ... ] And no, no paperwork at all, as far as I know.

Wonderful on both counts! [he's practically sparkling.] Three days is a nicely-timed trip.

Takes three days to hit Cherrygrove, and anotehr week to reach Violet.

[He said that in a matter-of-fact sort of tone.]

And I wouldn't worry about paperwork. It's a good idea to get a temp job, but otherwise, most people just train Pokémon and travel.

Three days sounds like an easy journey! A week isn't bad, especially with a stop over.

Man, you're sure taking this well. Most people complain about all the traveling.

It's not that much traveling, is it? [he leaves the question a little open-ended-- it's not him, but hey.] Besides, it's good to stay active!
