[ This evening, Hanekoma is covered in Pokemon. The Ruins of Alph are a little ways off in the background, which might explain the Smeargle perched across his shoulders -- a rather irritated Smeargle, as these two things try to steal its spot. The Nincada has managed to latch onto the man's arm, while the Trapinch tries and fails to climb his leg ( Read more... )

Can't say I know what those pokemon are though.

Sure am. Turned up again not too long ago, earlier on in March -- just in time for killer bugs and unfriendly weather.

Anyway, it's not a problem, I'll figure it out as I go. How've you been, city guy?

Can't believe I missed it.

[He shrugs]

I've been better. Made it to Goldenrod and that's a big plus. It's actually civilization.

Hey, I'm jealous. Goldenrod's my favorite place in this whole world, far as I've seen. Had a nice hotel room not far from the casino before I got thrown back to New Bark.

If either of them can learn poison attacks, I'd say they're worth a shot. It's dead useful.

[Unless you're up against Ken Hidaka and Ratty. Because then you will simply be introduced to FEAR.]

[ Luckily, he doesn't really care enough to go up against anyone but the occasional wild Pokemon. The guy's not quite a champ in the making. ]

Poison, huh? Never had one that could do that, but it does sound handy -- after a run-in with a poisonous bug or two during the swarm, I can speak for that first-hand.

Neither have I, although my starter has frozen a fair few in her time.

[He nods at the bug reference.]

It's damn persistent, if nothing else. Caused me a lot of close calls during that same time.

Frozen? That's a new one on me. Sounds like a useful trick to have, too.

[ Hanekoma shrugs. ]

My team's strong, but not too varied. Normal-types, 'side from the two bugs. I'd bet we'll have another Pokemon rampage before too long, and maybe I'll wanna have ice or poison on my side, by then.

[ And he's just... ten feet away...

... and staring at those things at Sanae's feet with a look reminiscent of a very sophisticated :T ]

Usually when eccentrics decide to collect bugs, they euthanize them first.

[ Sanae looks over and grins at Josh's expression, nonchalantly shakes the Trapinch off his leg. It lands on its back and gets stuck there, stubby legs flailing in the air. ]

Maybe I'm just a little extra eccentric.

Oh, how I wouldn't doubt that.

[ aaaahh just don't get it on him, gross. X(

-- But he's back to looking pretty chill. ]

I suppose we're going to be sight seeing, then? [ A pointed look at Smeargle. ] Painting the town red, perhaps.

... maybe this place figured you hadn't had enough of bugs already.

It'd be wrong on that count. I'm pretty close to dumping the things on the first guy willing to pay.

... You really think you're gonna find somebody willing to buy a bug?

Why not? If they're strong, someone out there will want 'em.
