Character Name: Sawada Tsunayoshi
Series: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Timeline: During the sleepover with Enma (Ch. 292)
Canon Resource Link: KHR wikia || Tsuna's page

Character Background: Tsuna, what a loser. He's bad at sports. Bad with girls. Bad in school. Bad at being coordinated. He was basically horrible at life. So horrible that his mother had decided to hire a tutor for him. There's nothing wrong with that. Except..well the tutor turned out to be a baby. A mafioso baby with a gun. At first Tsuna doesn't take him seriously. I mean come on, it's a baby in a suit with a gun how serious is that? Very serious, unfortunately. The baby, Reborn, tells Tsuna that he is actually going to be the tenth boss of a large mafia family called the Vongola and that he is there to train poor Tsuna into that role. Why? Because he is related to the founder of the Vongola and all the other candidates had unfortunate accidents. OF COURSE Tsuna doesn't want anything to do with that but the world "no" isn't in Reborn's vocabulary whatsoever. Sorry Tsuna. Not only does he have to deal with a psychotic baby, he has girl problems too. BEING A TEENAGER IS HARD. Even harder when said psychotic baby shoots you and you don't end up dying. No no no, what happened was much worse to Tsuna. What was actually shot at him was a dying will bullet. It makes the person stronger, so they can fix whatever they had felt regret for before they died. Tsuna regretted never asking Kyoko ( the girl he was having "problems" with ) on a date. So he ends up running up to her, forehead on fire and donned in his underwear, and asking her out. Except that is really creepy so of course she doesn't say yes.

It starts getting worse. Other members of the mafia begin appearing in his town, like Gokudera. At first Gokudera seems to hate Tsuna and attacks him because he "wants to be the tenth boss" (which is a lie of course). But Tsuna ends up saving him from his own bombs and Gokudera swears his loyalty to the future decimo and becomes THE BEST RIGHT-HAND MAN ANYONE COULD HAVE EVER. Even if Tsuna doesn't what that. Especially if Tsuna doesn't want that. He also makes friends with Yamamoto, a baseball player from his school, after saving him from an unfortunate suicide attempt. Things keep happening and his little mafia group starts getting bigger and bigger, eventually including Hibari who is the school's disciplinary committee boss, Lambo, a little kid from another mafia family, and even Mukuro and Chrome, the former who had attacked Tsuna and his friends and is still... kind of going after him.

During his battle with Mukuro, Tsuna learns how to use the Hyper Dying Will Mode, where instead of making him go off the hook like the normal dying will mode, he becomes calmer and more calculating. Tsuna becomes upset when he realizes that Mukuro is just using his own friends as toys. So, Tsuna ends up saving his friends, as well as Mukuro's. Afterward everything goes back to "normal" for a while. Until he meets the Varia.

The Varia is an assassination group within the Vongola, and to Tsuna's dismay, their boss Xanxus wants to be the head of the Vongola instead of Tsuna. Now while Tsuna doesn't really want to be the decimo at all, he doesn't want to let Xanxus (who is a huge ass if you want to put it simply) be the one to take his place. The two groups end up duking it out over who will be the tenth family. Tsuna becomes disqualified during the little tournament. Members weren't allowed to interfere with the one-on-one battles, but Tsuna ended up interrupting Lambo's battle to rescue him. Xanxus ends up challenging Tsuna anyway (because he is an ass, still). They fight and Tsuna wins because Xanxus ends up cheating too (like an ass). The the Varia flee and again everything is back to the way it was.

Except not.

Because Tsuna still fails at life and nothing can leave him alone. Reborn ends up disappearing. Reborn was hit with Lambo's Ten-Year Bazooka, which replaces a person with themselves from ten years in the future. But when the smoke clears there was no one there that replaced Reborn. Tsuna waited for a while, since the bazooka usually wears off quickly. Reborn still didn't show up. Tsuna gets hit with the bazooka as well and wakes up in the future..in a coffin. When he opens it he is met by the frantic Gokudera of the futu-- oh whoops guess not because Gokudera also got hit and switches with his younger self. And one by one they all get sent into the ~future~. TEAM VONGOLA find out that a mafia family called the Millefiore has taken control of everything and is hunting down the rest of the tenth generation Vongola family. After a while, Tsuna finds out the reason they were sent to the future was because they still had their Vongola rings, unlike their future selves who didn't. So they go on to fight Byakuran who is the head of the Millefiore, and also to protect Uni who Byakuran was using. After hiding out for a while while training with their new box animals, the two families finally clash. Tsuna ends up winning the final battle with the help of Uni and Gamma and they all are finally sent back in time to go back home. Wow, all this just to find Reborn.

Everyone goes back to school to find there are new transfer students. Turns out they are another family, the Shimon family, who were invited to Tsuna's inheritance ceremony. Of course Tsuna still vocally opposes to being the decimo. He just wants to keep his friends safe. The Vongola and Shimon end up getting buddy buddy with each other. Tsuna finds a pal in Enma, who is also a no-good loser. They end up having a sleep over (<- where I'm taking him from), but Enma writes a fake letter that makes it seem like he is in trouble and leaves during the night. He wants to see if Tsuna is what he really seems like and trustworthy. But Enma forgot a special rule. YOU DON'T LEAVE THINGS LYING AROUND WHEN THERE ARE CHILDREN IN THE HOUSE. Lambo and I-Pin make the letter accidentally fall in the garbage can next to Tsuna's desk and he never sees it. So Tsuna fails Enma's "test".

The Shimon become excellent party crashers during the inheritance ceremony and end up revealing they were actually there for revenge and the vial of blood that is handed down between the Vongola bosses. Tsuna and his friends get theirs handed to them and the Shimon leave, taking Chrome along with them. They all end up going to the Shimon family's private island, wanting to save her. As they all fight one by one, the Vindice ( aka MAFIA POLICE ) come in and show pieces of Giotto and Cozart's past. Turns out Vongola Primo didn't betray anyone. It was all another person that goes by the name of Daemon Spade. He had tricked the Shimon into thinking that the Vongola were horrible. After that, Tsuna adds Enma to the list of "PEOPLE I NEED TO SAVE RIGHT NOW" and they go off to do that and currently they are all in the middle of fighting Daemon.

Abilites/Special Powers: Some people in the KHR universe are able to use something called dying will flames and Tsuna is one of them. He has a sky attribute flame which is "extremely rare" and so far only found in family bosses. To use them he has to enter something called a Hyper Dying Will form either by getting shot at by Reborn or eating dying will pills. Although recently he has been going in to it without any of that. He uses special gauntlets to control the output of the flames. When like that, Tsuna's physical limitations become nonexistent. He gets faster, stronger, and smarter. He can use his flames to fly around, burn things, or shoot it at people. The flames are also used with rings to open box weapons, which are usually animals that are used as support in battle. Tsuna's is a small lion cub called Natsu who usually reflects however Tsuna is feeling. Natsu has two modes, attack and defense. Both have to do something with the first Vongola boss, Giotto. In attack mode Natsu turns into Giotto's gauntlet, where Tsuna has the ability to use a single attack of high density energy. In defense mode Natsu turns into his cloak which is mostly impenetrable. Being a sky flame user, Tsuna can also open boxes that belong to the other flame groups. Although it was mentions when he does this, the weapon won't be as strong as if someone who had a matching flame opened it.

Third-Person Sample: Oh jeez when did his bed become so uncomfortable? It's like he was sleeping on the ground or something.

...

...

Oh. He was. Tsuna got up, body aching and his mind reeling. Was this Reborn's fault? Probably. Only he would actually drag Tsuna out of his bed and leave him in the middle of nowhere. Maybe he was nice enough to leave Enma back home. ...Nah. It's Reborn why would he consider being nice at all. That is crazy talk. Maybe Tsuna hit his head while being dragged here too. Oh god does that mean he shouldn't be walking? Aw man he already messed up whatever stupid test Reborn was trying to put him through. Great. Great. This is awesome. Perfect. What Tsuna had wanted for his whole life.

He should probably go and find Enma. What if he ended up hitting his too? D-Don't worry Enma he's coming for you!

First-Person Sample: [ It turns out that Tsuna had woken up just at the edge of the forest. He found a little PDA looking thing on him and after tinkering with it for a while (WHY WON'T THIS THING WORK???) it finally turns on, just as he fumbles out of the forest and into clear ground. Good work Tsuna, everyone saw that. ]

H-Hello? Enma? I'm so sorry! This is probably Reborn's doing. You know how he is (completely evil)... [ He has no idea that this is broadcasting to basically everyone. He also has no idea what that giant mansion ahead of him is. ]

Are you in the mansion? Don't move! I-I'll get you (somehow).
