Music Rec List - Best Of the First Half

Jun 04, 2010 00:51

Got this lovely idea from dreamer_98, who got it from others... Yea, you get the point.

So, here are seven songs that I think kick major ass and that are brand-spankin'-new for 2010 (or, rather, the first half of 2010).

Enjoy. :)

These aren't from this year, but I'll rec `em `cause they're awesome:

Drive by Melissa Ferrick ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsG-eN96fVc )

My Traveling Star by James Taylor ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yysVZ2CgLyI )

The Story by Brandi Carlile ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvLawq5w9ns )

Sunny Came Home by Shawn Colvin ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0nKrD5If7U )

Hope you like `em.

I am a fan of all things Shawn Colvin, so a rec of her can never go wrong in my book. ;)

And yay, 'The Story'! What a lovely song that is... I remember being all sorts of reluctant to like it for some weird reason back when it first broke. Glad I got over myself [lol].

Hey, glad you enjoyed them! :)
And, believe me, I'll be posting lots of these lists - I am a bit of a music junkie. ;)

Cool list. :-) I liked the Twin Sister and Memoryhouse tracks the most.

I can see why the Erykah Badu video is considered controversial, but honestly half the stuff that's on MTV/VH1 now days is 100x more offensive than that.

Glad you liked it! :)

Twin Sister is my crack [lol]. I love them so much. And I thought you might enjoy Memoryhouse, very mellow stuff. I read somewhere that they are part of the 'chillwave' movement - I like that term. ;)

Exactly. By those standards, her video is quite tame.
