[A week has passed since Itachi fell into his coma.  Not much has really happened, since coma patients are not exactly the most exciting around, but Itachi somehow looks much more frail than he looked a week ago.  Perhaps this is from sleeping for a week?]

[Itachi's Growlithe isn't the only one who starts barking, but Homatsu tears off to find her trainer. Kisame comes back with her, a little rushed.]

Itachi-san--

[Well, hell, bloody tears is a bad sight. He sounds a little worried.]

Lie still; I'll get a cloth.

[action]

Kisame...?

[Itachi is very confused right now and the idea that he's back in Johto doesn't even come to mind.]

Were you killed as well?

[action]

[usedgigadrain]

[He has an idea that with Itachi's fading vision and confusion that it will be a good idea to be loud about getting the cloth and moving to wipe the blood away so... he is.]

I was. Do you remember what I told you about it when I awoke from my coma? You've been asleep for a week, Itachi-san.

[Itachi remains still as Kisame moves around and begins to wipe the blood from his face. It takes him a moment to process everything and to remind himself of Johto. Which is hard to do in his tired mind.]

Yes...I remember now. So I've returned to Johto?

You have. How do you feel?

[The faintest tone of worry. If Itachi returned with bad injuries...

Meanwhile, Homatsu decides Itachi needs facelicking to cheer him up. Best idea ever amiright?]

I am feeling as well as a dead man can feel.

[Which means that he is in a lot of pain and probably still bleeding from certain wounds, but nothing life threatening at the moment.]

[Itachi is a little surprised at the sudden face licking, but he places a hand on the puppy's head. His own Growlithe sits by the edge of the bed, tail wagging at the sight of Itachi awake and now in safe hands.]

We have time; you can rest and recover fully.

[Kisame is very worried about Itachi's eyes though. He knows how bad they were before.]

Is there anything you need right now?

[Homatsu whines and keeps licking and nudging with her tail wagging. Cheer up!]

I'm nothing more than a burden now, Kisame. My eyesight is gone completely. I would only be a hindrance to you while traveling.

I would understand if you wished to leave me behind and continue traveling further with Zabuza-san and Haku-san.

[Homatsu's pouting gets him a little farther and Itachi begins to pet him softly.]

You are my partner, Itachi-san. I will watch your back, and carry you if that's what you need.

[A little awkwardly.] I won't be the monster that abandons or murders my comrades anymore.

[And they're both upset. Homatsu whimpers. What to do?!]

[He's taken aback by that for a moment. He never expected having to deal with this sort of situation back home, since he knew that he was not going to survive his final fight. But Johto allowed him this second chance at life.]

Thank you, Kisame. Though I do hope I do not become incompetent enough that I need to be carried.

[Growlithe gives a little nudge to Homatsu, trying to reassure the pup that these two will sort things out with time. Itachi continues to scratch the little one's head, almost like a automatic movement.]

I know you won't be, unless you somehow broke both legs.

[Kisame checks Itachi over, making sure he doesn't actually have both legs broken or something. Homatsu decides that the older Growlithe knows what's what and relaxes, tongue lolling at the scritches]

Fortunately, none of my bones were broken during the battle with my brother. I cannot say the rest of my body fared as well, though.

[He seems so oddly calm when speaking about his own death.]

I suppose I'm lucky I didn't arrive with the injuries that killed me, eh?

Does anything need immediate attention?

[And Kisame is pretty cheerful about his right now.]

Much luckier than I am. And you did not lose one of your senses upon arriving here once more.

I think I may be fine for the moment...it seems like most of my more extreme injuries have been healed.

I wasn't losing anything to begin with. But you will overcome.

[Quiet confidence in Itachi's abilities, but since he doesn't need anything there's the soft scrape of Kisame pulling up a chair and he reaches over to give Homatsu and Growlithe both ear-scritches.]

You can retrain yourself to compensate; I can help.

It will take time, but I am sure that I will adjust fully. While I never anticipated living long enough to deal with full blindness, I have been living with poor eyesight for the last few years.
