How permanent do you think this will be? Do you think you could still be posting LJs when you're like 60 or 80?? There has to be some small print about how long "forever" really is...

As long as LiveJournal exists.

Practically speaking, my permanent account will have paid for itself in less than five years. Yes, that's quite a long time, but I've been around that long already (though I've only been on LiveJournal for about half that). And, yes, I think I could still be posting to LiveJournal when I'm 60. In any case, I'm happy to support LiveJournal.

As a sidenote, permanent accounts do occasionally get perks above and beyond paid accounts. The only thing I can think of at the moment is the decision to give permanent accounts 100 userpics. Currently, paid accounts only get 15 unless you pay a little extra to get 50. I can't think of anything else, though.

After thinking about it over the weekend, I caved in and got it well tonight. I've been here almost as long as you, using their service for free. Now that I have a steady flow of income flowing in, I thought it was about due time I gave them some financial support.

I think they are a pretty respectable company to support as well because they make the core of their journal code free for anyone to use.
