Just a brief translation of Arashi's talk about New Year's and the television appearances they'll be making, new dramas, etc. :P I also plan on translating the individual interview parts from this TV Guide because I now have time on my hands 8D Individual parts are here!

Through all of the painful and strenuous times we faced in 2011, there were always five lights that continued to shine. Surely these lights of hope known as Arashi will continue to light up the world in 2012. Together they talk about “2011→2012”. What kind of future will the five of them now paint…?

Matsumoto: We’re going to be appearing in a lot of shows again this New Year’s, aren’t we?

Sakurai: Following our first time in 2010, Arashi has been given the opportunity to host the white team in Kōhaku Uta Gassen again this year. Having the chance to be watched by such a wide age range, being told "congratulations" by everyone, I'm very thankful!

Matsumoto: How the last day of this eventful year of 2011 is spent is very important to us, so I want to focus all of my energy into making it enjoyable.

Aiba: It came as such a surprise. I thought that last year would be our first and last time hosting Kōhaku, so I never thought we’d be doing it again this year. I feel so honoured, and being able to watch the performances of such wonderful artists up close, I think it’s amazing. It’s really impressive!

Ninomiya: Right, right. Aiba-san was even able to complete the show without messing up.

Aiba: I messed up in rehearsal instead. But I’m different this year!

Ninomiya: Let’s hope so. After all, we want to show our very best again in closing 2011!

Ohno: Yeah. Like Aiba said, I thought our first time hosting was going to be our last, so I was really surprised too. But in following with last year, I’m aiming for another victory for the white team! I want to hold the championship flag on the last day of the year.

Sakurai: I wonder if Furusato which we sung at last year’s Kōhaku will be featured again this time, and how it will be done if it is sung. We want to continue knowing and feeling the power of that song.

Ohno: I’m so thankful that all of us are going to be appearing on TV again on the first day of 2012!! We’ll be doing Kotoshi mo yarimasu!! Kourei Ganjitsu TOKIOxArashi [T/N: where TOKIO and Arashi host special shows on NTV on New Year’s Day]. There will be the Arashi ni Shiyagare SP, but as usual, we don’t know who the guest will be.

Ninomiya: That’s awesome, getting to appear on TV again only a few hours after Kōhaku. While we still can’t be told all the details, it seems we’ll be doing things that can only be done on New Year’s.

Sakurai: I also believe I heard something about the number of guests being at a record high.... It also seems that there will be a New Year’s focus, and certain visuals from the year 2011 will appear…

Aiba: Ah, mine and Matsujun’s “first sunrise of the new year, kanpa~i”, right?

Ninomiya: Well that was pretty incredible.

Matsumoto: I watched the 2011 New Year’s Day special on TV with my family.

Ninomiya: J (=Matsumoto) watched it with his family? This is an unexpected development…

Matsumoto: I did watch it with my family~.

Sakurai: So, how did they react?

Matsumoto: Straight after mine and Aiba-san’s “kanpa~i” everyone burst out laughing.

Aiba: Ah, well that’s good. When I watched it with all of my relatives I was just embarrassed. But if people liked it, let’s do it again~!

Ninomiya: I… watched it alone at home.

Sakurai: Really? I was away on a trip with my family so I didn’t get to see it when it was on. Satoshi-kun, did you watch it?

Ohno: I was at my parents’ house… Ah, I guess I didn’t see it. The TV was on, but we were having a bingo tournament…

Matsumoto: Please postpone the bingo tournament next time. By the way, I’ll be making a television appearance [T/N: MCing for Sekai Ichi no SHOW Time ~Gyara wo Kimeru no wa Anata~, I think?] on January 2nd, so please support me in that too!

Ninomiya: And then there’s the VS Arashi special on January 3rd where J will be leaving us to join the opposing team [T/N: but I think he's still playing for the Arashi team as well?]. Just like when the Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku team came on, and Arashi team lost.

Sakurai: The Lucky Seven team is going to have some pretty extravagant members. It doesn’t really feel like they’re going to beat us…

Ohno: But Nadeshiko Japan are all coming too, right? I guess they’re gonna be strong, but I’m still really happy they’re coming.

Aiba: Sawa (Homare) has already come on the show before, but I remember her saying once “I’m weak in TV performances”. I wonder if that’s true?

Sakurai: In the last special Arashi messed up and didn’t make it to the final game. This time I want to do whatever it takes to make it to the final.

Matsumoto: You say that but… wasn’t last time due to you in Dual Curling?

Sakurai: ……. That left me with a deeper wound than I expected, so please, I want to take part in the revenge match myself.

Matsumoto: Lucky Seven team are all capable people. We intend to defeat the Arashi team and fight our best against Nadeshiko.

Ninomiya: But it seems we too will be joined by an amazing plus one guest. We also have the handicap of wearing haori and hakama [T/N: formal Japanese attire].

Sakurai: There’s also Satoshi-kun’s special drama Mou Yuukai nante Shinai [T/N: “I Won’t Kidnap Anymore”] which is also on January 3rd, so that night we’ll have the luxury of enjoying Ohno Satoshi spread out over five and a half hours~. So Ohno-san, do you actually kidnap someone?

Ohno: That… Well, yeah...

Matsumoto: Ah, you really do…?

Sakurai: So he does… Well then, it’s not really “yuukai shinai” (“not kidnapping”), is it?

Ohno: I guess not. Oh and by the way, Sho-kun will be making a guest appearance as the butler Kageyama, and MatsuJun will be making an appearance as Tokita Shuntaro [T/N: Jun’s role in Lucky Seven].

Ninomiya: Isn’t that great~!

Aiba: Let’s all look forward to that drama too then.

Sakurai: We’ve made a lot of memories in 2011, but Arashi are going to continue to push on into 2012! Please continue to encourage and support us!

Yay for another year of Arashi~!

And Jun's and Ohno's dramas! ♥
