[Early, early in the morning, a Gear switches on by accident, showing Raven and Atka in the wooded area not far from Cherrygrove city. Those familiar with the surroundings may recognize that the traveling group will reach there within the day ( Read more... )

[The feed catches the attention of Kisame's camwhore Quagsire. Ooooh, somebody who trains themselves like her trainer! She Quagqaugs loudly and then turns the camera over to show Kisame. He's shirtless, in spite of the chill, and has worked up a good sweat already.

He's currently using Onix plus Rock Throw as a dodging exercise. He laughs at the Onix, having a grand time, and she swipes at him with her tail. No worries, as he flips right over it. He's really fast and flexible. Really flexible. And then he just punches one of those rocks out of the air.

...Yup, strong too.]

[Once Raven and Atka pause for a break and realize the camera's going, the large man watches the session with interest. Raven himself was much too dense to do such acrobatics, but he could appreciate the skills it takes to use them. The man almost reminded him of Liquid, actually.]

[Kisame ends the dodging exercise and looks about to start working through kata when he notices the camera-Quagsire.]

...We really need to get you one of your own, Nuru.

[And he trots over to see who's at the other end.] Good morning; I'm surprised others are up so early.

Well met.

[The seemingly-tattooed man inclines his head.]

The words of the spirits are better heard when all is still.

[Kisame nods as he settles to take a drink.]

I guess that's true. I can't say I've ever heard from them though.

[Chuckling a little, as his Pokémon gather round. How he can stand the Fearow perching on his shoulder, the world may never know]

[Amused, Raven taps the mark on his forehead lightly.]

The ravens marked me as their own from the start. I hear the wise songs of many ages through the bird on my head.

[Raven settles himself on the ground, pleased to meet another who trained such as he.]

Have you been in this world for very long? I do not recognize your companions.

You kept what marks you as different, eh? Lucky.

[And he goes around introducing his team, only having to pause when the Octillery decides to hug his head.]

You've already met Nuru; she's a Quagsire. Samehada here is an Octillery--mmph, Samehada, don't do that. Hiramekarei over there is a Gyarados, and the Onix is Anago.

And this, [giving the Fearow an affectionate feather-ruffle, that the Fearow accepts with an annoyed fluff] is Kubikiri Houchou. He's a Fearow.

Do you appear different in your world?

[Raven solemnly accepts each introduction, treating each pokemon as another person.]

Your team is impressive. My partner is the Miltank, Atka. I have yet to meet another wild pokemon who was meant to travel with us.

By the sound of the names you chose, I would guess that you are from Japan?

[Kisame nods.] I usually have blue skin.

[He's very fond and proud of them] They're strong and have trained hard.

Meant to, eh? Most of my squad decided to stay with me on their own.

[But then he shakes his head.] I'm from Water Country, originally.

By birth or ink?

I would prefer companions who are willing to stay by their own choice as well.

Water Country...I am unfamiliar with the name. My own birthplace is that of Alaska.

By birth; it's one of the things that earn me my name.

[He chuckles] Hoshigaki Kisame, by the way.

[Thoughtful] Another case of different worlds; I haven't ever heard of Alaska or Japan.

[He grins, finding amusement in their similarities.]

And I am Vulcan Raven. [Again, he taps the birthmark on his head.] I, too, gained my name by my unusual pigmentation.

[Though completely blue would be stretching it.]

It is a strange crossroads we find ourselves in, is it not? The dead live among those who are not yet born and the worlds intersect startlingly.

I look forward to the challenge presented.

[He nods politely] It's nice to meet you.

[Blue with gills and shark teeth, even]

It's strange, how time is turned on itself. [Chuckle] But it's definitely a challenge, even if it's different from what I'm used to.

And to you.

[His grin turns somewhat fierce] Truly, these new challenges will provide more opportunities for warriors to gain strength.

[He chuckles] I did have to change my training routine.

[A pause, looking off somewhere else for a while] But maybe if there is a reason, we're not meant to just gain physical strength.

Strength in spirit and mind is as important as in physical prowess.

Sometimes I have wondered whether we were brought here to learn lessons our own worlds could not provide us with.
