I'm waiting for 9 a.m. so's I can call the dentist for an appointment. I've been awake since 3, so the waiting is already in full force. It's been a magical year so far, with normalized sleep patterns along with increased energy, more activity, and less spasticity and pain, so it was doubly disheartening to get slammed out of a decent sleep so ( Read more... )

You have no idea how much I respect you. And this post is a very good example of why. I'm so sorry about your tooth, and I completely understand about the shame. I have no MS, I haven't taken as good care of my body as I might have, and when big things come up, I always cry and feel shame. It's part of the drill, and I suspect it's hard wired in and part of our root survival mechanism.

I love you, RD.

Got a fast appointment -- love it when that happens! I'm in there later this morning, and we'll see if the dude can work his DDS Magick, hee hee! ;->

Y'know, it really is different for guys. If Helios had a whole row of missing front teeth, he could head into work and chin around with the suits. As long as his jeans don't have huge holes in them and his work is good, it's like they kind of expect the blue collar guy to have some missing chompers or a farmer's tan or whatever, LOL.

I'm picturing myself walking on to any job I've ever held with a top front gap, and snorting coffee out my nose! It'd fly at a couple bars where I worked when I was younger, but that's about it. First I'd be losing money waiting for a dental appt., then spending money getting a cosmetic fix...then I'd be allowed back in the door to earn and pay off. Yikes!

I'm feeling slow this morning, and can't seem to find a good key to make a big, gap-toothed grinny emoticon, so just pretend like there's one, right here --->

I know this so well. "Making excuses for your teeth...." My Gods, how many times have I done that? Lots.

All of that to say, I know how this feels and you describe it so well. Much love to you RD.
