I haven't been writing about it a lot, but I've been spending a lot of time with the former ferals. Bro-Cat had -- after almost a full year -- got finally to the point where he'd let me pet him. Tam and Corey are getting married in January, and the baby's due in May. Lots of cool stuff happening, lot of planning to do.
I do miss the nasty old cat, but I know in the year he hung out with us, we gave him a lot. I think Bro had almost as much fun getting to know and trust us as we did. I'll just hold t the thought that he was a happier, fatter cat than he'd have been otherwise, and release the grief out into the universe.

This is the second former feral who's adopted us, so I'm still pretty new to it. Eddie -- Bro's bro -- has always been a friendly cat, and he took to us in a single afternoon. With Bro, the time put in reassuring him we weren't going to hurt him, and the energy it took to build a real relationship with him -- I dunno, it just made it a little more special, y'know?
I really miss having the nasty old thing around. It's definitely been an experience -- when the strays showed up, our plan had been to get a puppy! I'm glad I ended up taking what the universe had to offer, instead of forcing a situation.
It's made me realize the truth, that I really would prefer to take life's joys and sorrows together, and fully feel it all rather than living a half-life, where it's set on Medium all the time ( ... )
