Bob Parsons, Mugabe, GoDaddy & the Death of Journalism

We are not PETA members. Some of us wear leather, some of us eat meat, and some of us have gone all-green. This is not about elephants, or about narcissistic twits with elephant-sized egos-it's about how journalism continually fails to ask the right questions and confuses press releases with fact-finding. And how we all end up gulled as a result. ( ( Read more... )

The guy is an asshole. I've always hated their commercials. I should move my stuff but don't want to deal with downtime.

Ok, I looked at the link more and I have no clue what point they're trying to make.

The point they're making is the one made in the introductory paragraph: that the "journalists" of today are no longer in any way "investigative," but a pack of lazy dogs who sit at desks waiting for someone to issue a press release...and then they print it verbatim, under their bylines, and call it an "article."

The story of this Great White Hunter dipshit is merely the framework for the making of the point.

It's been widely reported on, but not a single "reporter" bothered to ask what the hell was really going on here; rather, it's been framed as "PETA vs. leather-wearing carnivores," which is a joke.

There's a ton of info available about Mugabe, his inflation of the numbers of elephants in the country (so to allow for Great White Hunters to come in with guns and pay for a 'safari'), his connections, and the reasons he remains in power, but sadly it seems like most folks don't really care.

It's a peeve of mine as well, the dearth/death of journalism. Guess that must be why Jayzus gave us blogs, huh? ;->
