"Hey, do you know where you're going?" Travis called after Diziara as he pursued her down the corridor, only moments after
she'd walked away from their conversation. She didn't react like she'd heard him, and he growled to himself. "Do you even know where she is right now?" This caused Diziara to stop midstride.
"Qu'vatlh!" she spit out as she spun to face him when he came to a stop a meter or two behind her. He took a step back in surprise, and she bared her teeth at him. "What the jay' do you want?"
"I was going to offer my help," he answered. She narrowed her eyes at him and crossed her arms. "The turbolift is back that way, unless you wanted to head through the service shafts again," he added with a knowing smirk, and a toss of his head to indicate the direction to the turbolift. She snarled and pushed past him to stalk in the direction he indicated. His hand flew out and caught her by the upper arm. She didn't slow down, only adjusted her trajectory to turn and face him, bringing her fist up for a right cross, which he deftly caught in his own. They stood a moment staring each other down.
"What the hell could you do to help?" she finally demanded. When she relaxed the muscles in her arm, he released her fist and she lowered it.
"Well, for starters, I could find out if she's still in the holding cell your Luke-"
"Spiegel," she interrupted, and Travis blinked at her. "He answers to Spiegel."
"...That Spiegel left her locked in. I must say, the sound dampener on the containment field was a stroke of genius, wouldn't have thought of it myself." Travis grinned as he said this, and Diziara's gaze remained cold and angry. "You don't have any way to find out where she is, or what my crewmates know. I could find out, easily, without arousing suspicion."
"And why do you want to help?"
"Maddie's a tyrannical bitch of epic proportions, drives most of the engineering staff mad," he explained with a shrug.
"That's hardly a good reason to want to kill her."
"Also, I'm next in line for her job."
"...And that's supposed to be a better reason?"
"You want to kill her, why's it wrong for me to want her dead too?"
"That's different, she tortured Noelle. You were following us earlier, did you get a look at what state she left her in?" Travis made a small noise that sounded vaguely like agreement. "That's what she calls 'not too terrible', claiming she wouldn't hurt herself." Diziara growled and muttered a string of obscenities that implied Maddie's relationship to Tribbles, Denebian slime devils, and Regulan blood worms. Travis chuckled, and Diziara cut herself off just as she was starting to launch into talk of explosive diarrhea of elephants.
"Okay, so your reasons for bloody revenge are more noble than mine. Why does that mean I can't-" Travis started, and then cut himself off when Diziara's combadge chirped.
"Spiegel to Diziara," came through the badge, and Diziara growled. Keeping a sharp eye on Travis, she brought her leg up, reached under the hem of her pants, and plucked out the combadge, tapping it as she did so.
"Didn't I tell you to keep radio silence?" she demanded right away. Travis smirked in amusement, and she narrowed her eyes at him, baring her teeth.
"Until we were ready to go," Spiegel countered, and Diziara cursed.
"You're done already?"
"Storvik was a big help." At this, Travis cocked his head to one side, and the grin disappeared from his face. Diziara noticed this, and tilted her head likewise.
"I'll be back shortly then," Diziara answered with a sigh. "Storvik hasn't been a problem, has he?"
"Not at all, he gave Noelle a little medical attention. She's a little out of it, but seems to trust him."
"Okay, see you in a minute. Diziara out." She tapped her badge to close the channel, and headed off, brushing past Travis once more, this time sure of where she was going. Instead of trying to stop her, he fell into step next to her.
"You need to be careful with Vic, he's mostly harmless, but I've seen indications of self serving deviousness before," he told her as she walked and he followed. She snorted in amusement. "Hey, you left him alone with Noelle and Spiegel. She's injured and he doesn't seem to have a combat able bone in his body, he's almost as bad as mine." This caused Diziara to stop, and stare Travis straight in the eye.
"Even injured like she is, I trust Noelle to be capable of taking care of herself and Spiegel both." With this statement, she turned and stalked off again. When Travis continued to follow, she shot over her shoulder. "Why are you following me? If you want Maddie dead, you're going to have to do it yourself. I don't have time to take care of your problem for you now."
"Actually, I'm curious what Vic's angle is on helping your crew out. The less observant on the station see his actions as often charitable and helpful, but as long as I've been paying attention, there's always been some selfish motivation behind whatever he does, even if he hides it well. Call it morbid curiosity, if you will."
"Curiosity killed the cat," was all Diziara had to say to that, but Travis grinned ear to ear as he kept pace with her. It didn't take long for them to make it back to the docking port, where they found Grace skulking outside the airlock.
"Uncle Trav!" she called out, spotting him. Then she noticed Diziara next to him, and frowned. "She threatened to kill me."
"She threatened to kill me too, but we worked past that," Travis dismissed with a laugh. Both women looked at him annoyed, then Diziara brushed past Travis and Grace to regain access to her ship. "What are you doing here?" Travis asked Grace, but kept an eye on Diziara.
"Vicky and I were just securing the craft, waiting for you to show up," Grace explained. Diziara shot a look over her shoulder at Travis, as if to say 'So that's what you were really up to', which caused Travis to avoid meeting her eyes.
"Diziara to Spiegel," Diziara finally said, tapping her combadge.
"Now who's breaking radio silence?" came his reply. Travis laughed, and Diziara growled.
"Would you pop the airlock? I'm outside," Diziara demanded.
"You're not bringing any pets back when we go," Spiegel teased, and opened the airlock for her. She strode inside, and before she could say anything, Travis followed right behind. Grace kept behind her uncle, not wanting to be left alone in the corridor again, even though she'd only just left the Obama.
"What did I say about bringing pets?" Spiegel asked as Diziara entered the cockpit area, with Travis and Grace following on her heel.
"We can dump them out the airlock once we're underway, if they don't remove themselves voluntarily before we break port," Diziara answered with a shrug. "Can I start the preflight, or do you need to do anything else before we go?"
"Should be good for preflight, once we lose the extra baggage," Spiegel answered.
