I really enjoyed this post (not that I live in Utah, but I'm very interested in how Christians deal with Mormons and vice versa).
I think sometimes a lot of the things you mentioned really throw me for a loop with the religion. Everyone just seems too 1950s suburbia, y'know?
And I have Mormon friends, and I know their lives aren't perfect, but I just can't understand why they don't just admit to having some flaws. Of course, I don't deal well with perfect people ;)
I think in some of those you are getting Mormon's and JW's mixed up...
1)#7- Mormon's can go to college, in fact, there is even a college that many Mormon's go to, BYU. it is the JW's who are taught not to go to college.
2)#8- Mormon's can have friends who are not mormon's...in fact, most of them do and they are some of the nicest people that I have ever met...it is the JW's who are encouraged not to have friends who are not JW's.
I don't think she was implying that they can't go to college. We (Blair and I) know BYU is an LDS university...it's right here in Utah. 49ers q-back Steve Young is LDS; I think he went to BYU.
As for JW's = no college...never heard that one. Thanks.
