"Fatass."

It was always the same. Day in, day out--never changing, never fluctuating. Well, he couldn't say it didn't fluctuate, if he wanted to be entirely truthful (though, where was the fun in that?), but the 'fluctuations' were more in intensity, rather than subject or disposition.

But (and in this case it was more fun to be honest), it was Tayuya he was speaking of. A fluctuation in her disposition would mean a serious flaw in the very fabric of existence or that they had caught her in a moment of something she would more than likely not wish for them to see, and upon discovering they did, her normal disposition would be back with a fiery vengeance, and it would be better to brace for impact.

"A lady shouldn't speak like that."

One hand (of six) smacked against a hitae-ate clad forehead, making a metallic 'clink' resonate throughout the room. It was incredulous, he mused, how after this being almost an everyday occurrence, one would think Jiroubou would have learned by now, unless he truly believed that he could change her one of these days by spouting the same phrase each day without fail, ad nauseum. He sighed a little, snickering to himself. That was Jiroubou, though. If Jiroubou changed, then it would almost be for the same reason that Tayuya would--that the end of the world was coming, and they were all screwed, and so forth.

"Who the fuck said I was a lady?! I'll talk however I damn well please!"

He stifled another laugh. It was identical, down to the movement of their bodies, to the rhythm of their breaths. The same scene that had played out the day before, and the day before that, and the day before that. Something you could set your watch by; even if they were on mission, it would still occur. Jiroubou would sigh and shake his head, and she would bear a grin that would frighten a mamba into submission, signifying her 'victory' until the next day.

"Yeah, Jiroubou. I really don't think that's a lady. Honestly, I'm not even sure it's a girl."

His head turned at that, along with everyone else's in the room. A smirk spread across his face, as he noticed the origin of the remark. Sakon stood with a cheshire cat's expression in the doorway, eyes turned to Tayuya, who was seething, and began to laugh.

An expletive was yelled, and something went flying through the air.

A chair. The wood shattered like glass upon impact with the wall beside the door, splinters spraying in all directions like a hail of fléchettes. A moment later, Sakon's head reappeared around the doorframe, the same amused cast upon his face.

"You missed."

And as quickly as it had reappeared, Sakon's head vanished. Along with Tayuya, who loosed a scream and ran after him, swearing the entirety of the way, her words echoing as loudly from down the hall as if they'd been spoken in the room. Jiroubou reluctantly rose from his space, walking down the hallway to make sure the two didn't rip each other to shreds too badly.

Kidoumaru allowed himself a full smile at this. Okay, maybe he was wrong. Even if all the components were the same, there were still things that could surprise him. Maybe it wouldn't always be just the mundane.

With a laugh, he followed where the others had went.

I have to thank the author Peter S. Beagle, for his kind words and advice got me writing again, and work for giving me the time to work on these things while I'm on shift. ♥
