Well, SORRY. The Southwestern French are toally unknown to me... I'll bet you just caught the bad people. The French don't particularly love the Spanish anyway. The only people I know are in Northeastern France... so perhaps the niceness factor of the French extends diagonally, with minimum at the Pyrénées ad maximum in the Jura...
